How to use Arcane Spike
Arcane Spike doubles the attack speed of the bolt again and raises its damage from 3 to 6, with +10 extra damage to MOAB-class bloons (+11 with Arcane Impale, which also adds +1 against ceramics). The bolt switches from Energy to Plasma damage, so it can now pop lead, but still not purple. With a middle-path crosspath, fireballs gain +6 MOAB damage and Wall of Fire +2 MOAB damage.
When to buy it
Arcane Spike costs $10,000 on Medium. It deals strong damage to MOAB-class bloons and handles mid-game rounds with good cleanup, picking apart groups of blimps accurately thanks to its homing bolts.
It struggles against dense groups of regular bloons, so pair it with a crowd popper before round 81 and with a stall such as an Ice Monkey against super ceramics after that. Alchemist buffs, especially Berserker Brew and Stronger Stimulant, boost it a lot.
- 4-0-2: more pierce and range plus camo detection. The usual pick.
- 4-2-0: stronger fireballs and Wall of Fire against MOABs, but no camo.
Is it worth it?
Yes, as a mid-game anti-MOAB tower and as the step to Archmage. Late in the game it remains good against MOABs and DDTs with support.
