MOAB-class
MOAB-class bloons in BTD6: MOAB, BFB, ZOMG, DDT and BAD with health, RBE, first rounds, what they are immune to and the best anti-MOAB towers.
Guide
MOAB-class bloons are the big blimps of BTD6: the MOAB, BFB, ZOMG, DDT and BAD. Boss Bloons belong to the same class. Unlike regular bloons, which pop one layer per point of damage, blimps have a large health bar and break open to release smaller bloons when destroyed. Many attacks and effects that work on regular bloons, such as freezing, gluing and some stuns, do not work on blimps without the right upgrade.
They are the main threat from round 40 onward, and knowing their numbers is the key to planning your late game.
The MOAB-class bloons
MOAB
- Health: 200 (400 Fortified).
- Releases: 4 Ceramic Bloons.
- RBE: 616 (856 Fortified).
- First appears: round 40.
- Speed: as slow as a Red Bloon.
On Easy difficulty, the round 40 MOAB has a third less health.
BFB (Brutal Floating Behemoth)
- Health: 700 (1,400 Fortified).
- Releases: 4 MOABs.
- RBE: 3,164 (4,824 Fortified).
- First appears: round 60 (round 54 in Alternate Bloons Rounds).
- Much slower than a MOAB, with a bigger hitbox. Immune to attacks that only target up to MOABs.
ZOMG (Zeppelin Of Mighty Gargantuaness)
- Health: 4,000 (8,000 Fortified).
- Releases: 4 BFBs.
- RBE: 16,656 (27,296 Fortified).
- First appears: round 80 (round 79 in ABR).
- Even slower than a BFB. Immune to attacks that only target up to BFBs or "small blimps", and some slows and stuns are weaker against it.
DDT (Dark Dirigible Titan)
- Health: 400 (800 Fortified).
- Releases: 4 Camo Regrow Ceramics.
- RBE: 816 (1,256 Fortified).
- First appears: round 90 (round 88 in ABR).
- Has Camo, Lead and Black properties at once, so it needs Camo detection and damage that pops both Lead and Black. It moves a little faster than a Ceramic and is targeted ahead of ZOMGs.
BAD (Big Airship of Doom)
- Health: 20,000 (40,000 Fortified).
- Releases: 2 ZOMGs and 3 DDTs.
- RBE: 55,760 (98,360 Fortified).
- First appears: round 100 (round 99 in ABR).
- Immune to nearly all knockback, blowback, slows and stuns. Time Stop is one of the few exceptions.
Key MOAB rounds
- Round 40: the first MOAB. Many beginner defenses fall here.
- Round 60: the first BFB.
- Round 63: not a blimp round, but a huge Ceramic wave that tests the same damage.
- Round 80: the first ZOMG.
- Round 90: the first DDTs, together with Fortified Camo Regrow Leads.
- Rounds 95 to 99: dense mixes of Fortified MOABs, BFBs, ZOMGs and DDTs.
- Round 100: the BAD.
After round 80, blimp health keeps scaling up, so freeplay blimps are tougher than the base numbers above.
How MOAB-class bloons differ
- Health, not layers. A blimp takes damage like a big health pool. Attacks that "pop through several layers" deal their damage to that pool.
- Bonus MOAB damage. Many upgrades add extra damage only against MOAB-class bloons. This is what makes dedicated anti-MOAB towers efficient.
- Effect immunities. Regular freezing and glue do not stick to blimps unless upgraded. For example, the Glue Gunner needs MOAB Glue (0-0-3) to glue blimps, and the Ice Monkey's top path only starts hitting MOAB-class bloons at Embrittlement (4-0-0).
- Damage phases. Blimps show visible damage as their health drops.
- The children count. Destroying the shell is only part of the job. A MOAB's four Ceramics are about two thirds of its RBE.
Best towers against MOAB-class bloons
- Bomb Shooter: MOAB Mauler (0-3-0) is the classic early MOAB answer. MOAB Assassin (0-4-0) adds a strong single-target ability, and MOAB Eliminator (0-5-0) shortens its cooldown and multiplies its damage.
- Sniper Monkey: Maim MOAB (4-0-0) deals heavy damage and briefly immobilizes blimps. Cripple MOAB (5-0-0) holds them longer and makes them take extra damage from everything else.
- Spike Factory: MOAB SHREDR (0-3-0) spikes shred blimps that pass over them.
- Monkey Sub: Ballistic Missile (0-3-0) adds missiles with extra damage to MOABs and Ceramics.
- Boomerang Monkey: MOAB Press (0-0-4) hits blimps repeatedly and can knock them back.
- Monkey Buccaneer: Monkey Pirates (0-4-0) can harpoon a blimp and pull it down with its ability.
- Heli Pilot: MOAB Shove (0-0-3) slows or pushes blimps back.
- Support: the Alchemist's Acidic Mixture Dip (2-0-0) and the Engineer's Deconstruction (0-2-0) add extra MOAB damage.
For any blimp-heavy round, pair a slow or stun with high single-target damage, and keep enough crowd control behind it for the bloons that spill out.
Common mistakes
- Building only for the blimp. The Ceramics, MOABs or BFBs that come out need their own answer.
- Forgetting Camo for DDTs. A great MOAB tower without detection lets every DDT through.
- Relying on slows against BADs. BADs ignore almost all of them.
- Underestimating Fortified blimps. A Fortified MOAB has double health and releases Fortified Ceramics.
Frequently asked questions
What are the MOAB-class bloons in BTD6?
The MOAB, BFB, ZOMG, DDT and BAD. Boss Bloons also count as MOAB-class.
What round does the first MOAB come?
Round 40 in standard games. The first BFB comes on round 60, the first ZOMG on round 80, the first DDTs on round 90 and the BAD on round 100.
How much health does a ZOMG have?
4,000 health, or 8,000 when Fortified. With its four BFBs inside, its total RBE is 16,656.
What is the best tower against MOABs early?
A 0-3-0 MOAB Mauler Bomb Shooter is the classic early answer. Sniper Monkeys and Spike Factories are other strong options.
Why can't my Ice Monkey freeze MOABs?
The Ice Monkey's normal freeze does not work on MOAB-class bloons. On the top path, it gains the ability to hit them at Embrittlement (4-0-0).
What does a BAD release when popped?
Two ZOMGs and three DDTs, which is why its total RBE is far higher than its 20,000 health.
