Beginner map
Scrapyard
Info
Scrapyard is a Beginner map added in Version 31.0, alongside the hero Geraldo and the boss Vortex. It is set in a junkyard full of wrecked cars, old tyres, corrugated metal and other scrap, with a few crates and pieces of construction equipment in better shape.
Bloons enter from the top left, run through a long pin-shaped loop at the bottom, then a loop on the upper right, then around a loop on the upper left, along the top of the map and finally take two right turns to leave at the bottom left. There is one entrance and one exit. At 60.73 RBS Scrapyard is the longest map in BTD6, just ahead of Logs.
The map's special feature is the compressor, a huge press placed about halfway along the track. Tap its button and it slams shut for free, dealing 5 damage (plus 5 extra to ceramics) and stunning every bloon underneath for 6 seconds. It has unlimited pierce and a normal damage type, so it pops leads too. MOAB-class bloons are immune to both the damage and the stun. The compressor has a 60 second cooldown and starts the game on full cooldown. The button turns from red to blue when it is ready, and Geraldo's Rejuv Potion resets it instantly.
The scrap piles block line of sight and cannot be built on or removed. Crates scattered around the yard are high ground: each one fits one medium or large tower (up to a Super Monkey) or two small towers, and towers on them can see over the junk. The metal fence around the edge does not act as a bouncy wall for Spike-o-pults or Juggernauts.
There is no water on Scrapyard. Compared with Logs, its main rival for longest map, Scrapyard has more line-of-sight problems and less open space, but the compressor and the high-ground crates give it its own tricks.
How to beat Scrapyard
Map overview for strategy
Scrapyard is easy in one big way: it is the longest track in the game, so bloons spend a very long time on screen. It is harder in another: scrap piles block vision and take up a lot of space, so towers that need line of sight must be placed on open ground or on the crates.
The compressor is a free, reusable tool. Because it has unlimited pierce, it is perfect for dense rounds of regular bloons, including leads and ceramics. Save it for the moments that matter, such as round 63, 76 or 78, rather than tapping it every time it is ready. Remember it does nothing to MOAB-class bloons.
The crates are the best spots for Snipers, Super Monkeys and other towers that need vision, since high ground lets them see over the junk.
Best towers
- Ninja Monkey 4-0-1 and 2-0-4: short range, so it works beside the track without worrying about scrap.
- Alchemist 4-2-0: buffs and acid both work at close range.
- Super Monkey on a crate: a Sun Avatar or Sun Temple can see over the scrap.
- Sniper Monkey 4-0-2 on a crate for MOAB damage.
- Heli Pilot 4-0-2 and Monkey Ace: they fly, so the scrap does not affect them.
- Mortar Monkey: ignores line of sight and pairs well with the compressor's stun.
- Boomerang Monkey 4-2-0 next to a loop.
- Monkey Village 2-2-0.
Best heroes
- Geraldo: his Rejuv Potion resets the compressor, and his shop items are flexible on any map.
- Quincy: cheap and dependable on the long track.
- Etienne: his drones fly over the scrap.
- Striker Jones: great with Mortars and Bomb Shooters.
Easy and Medium
Start with a Dart Monkey near the entrance and a Ninja for camo. Use the compressor on any round that feels dangerous. Add an Alchemist or Bomb Shooter for leads and farms in the open spots. A 4-0-1 Ninja and a Heli Pilot win Medium.
Hard
Farm two or three Banana Farms. Build a Ninja and Alchemist beside the bottom loop, a Super Monkey on a crate and a 2-2-0 Village. Add Sticky Bombs and a Heli Pilot for MOABs, and keep the compressor ready for rounds 63, 76 and 78.
CHIMPS
- Rounds 1 to 6: hero and a Dart Monkey near the bottom loop.
- Rounds 7 to 18: a Ninja Monkey beside the loop, upgraded to 2-0-1 before round 24.
- Rounds 19 to 30: an Alchemist next to the Ninja. The compressor can also crush the round 28 leads if you are short on lead popping.
- Rounds 31 to 45: Ninja to 4-0-1, Alchemist to 3-2-0. A Heli Pilot towards 2-0-3 or 4-0-2 for MOABs.
- Rounds 46 to 63: a 2-2-0 Village, a 4-2-0 Glaive, and a Sticky Bomb Ninja by round 60. Save the compressor for round 63.
- Rounds 64 to 80: Alchemist to 4-2-0, a Super Monkey on a crate working towards Sun Avatar, and a Sniper on a crate. Use the compressor on 76 and 78.
- Rounds 81 to 100: a Sun Temple on a crate or an Apache Prime, with more Sticky Bombs for 98 to 100. Keep camo coverage for 95 and 99.
Impoppable
The long track and the compressor make Impoppable comfortable. Farm in the open spots and follow the CHIMPS core.
Other modes
- Deflation: Ninjas, an Alchemist and a Heli Pilot get great value, and the compressor is free.
- Military Only: Heli Pilots, Aces, Mortars and crate Snipers.
- Half Cash: the long track gives you time to farm.
Dangerous rounds on this map
- Round 24: one camo green. Make sure your camo tower can actually see the path.
- Round 28: six leads. The compressor pops leads if needed.
- Round 40: the first MOAB. The compressor does not affect it.
- Round 63: 122 ceramics. The compressor deals extra damage to ceramics and stuns the whole rush.
- Round 76: 60 regrow ceramics. A compressor slam keeps them in range of your core.
- Round 78: camo ceramics and purples. Purples resist fire, energy and plasma.
- Round 95: camo regrow purples and fortified leads, then MOABs and DDTs.
- Round 98: 30 fortified BFBs and 8 ZOMGs. The compressor will not help, so you need real MOAB damage.
- Round 99: 60 MOABs and 9 fortified DDTs.
- Round 100: one BAD that ignores slows and stuns.
