In-game description

Guide

Flat Pack Buildings makes every Banana Farm and Monkey Village 2% cheaper and makes both sell for 2% more. It sits in the top row of the Support tree with no prerequisite, so it costs one Knowledge Point and no Monkey Money.

In real numbers on Medium, a Banana Farm drops from $1,250 to $1,225 and a Monkey Village from $1,200 to $1,175. On Impoppable the same towers cost $1,470 and $1,410 instead of $1,500 and $1,440. The discount is rounded to the nearest $5, so it is never exactly 2%. The sell bonus is added on top of the normal 70% sellback, which means farms and villages return 72% of everything you spent on them.

How it changes the game

The saving per tower is small, but farms and villages are the two towers you tend to buy many times. A farm-heavy game with eight or ten Banana Farms saves a few hundred dollars over the first 30 rounds, which is roughly one extra early upgrade.

The sellback part matters more than the discount in the long run. Economy players sell farms late in the game to fund their final defence, and every 1% of sellback on a fully upgraded farm is real money. A 0-0-4 Central Market or a stack of IMF Loans sells for noticeably more with this knowledge on.

It also stacks with the rest of the tree. With Better Sell Deals, farms and villages sell for 77% instead of 75%. A farm with Banana Salvage next to a Favored Trades village can reach the 95% sellback cap, and Flat Pack Buildings is part of what gets you there.

Early game impact is modest: on Medium you are still $25 short of anything meaningful. Late game, the higher sellback on expensive economy towers is where the knowledge earns its point.

Is it worth it?

Priority: good, mainly as a gateway. On its own Flat Pack Buildings is a small bonus, but it is the only route into the economy half of the Support tree. You need it before Insider Trades and More Valuable Bananas, and from there before Bigger Banks, Farm Subsidy, Backroom Deals, Better Sell Deals, Healthy Bananas and Bank Deposits.

Compared with the other top-row Support knowledge, One More Spike, it is the better first pick for almost everyone. Farms and villages appear in far more strategies than Spike Factories, and the branch behind it holds the strongest knowledge in the tree. Take it as soon as you start spending points in Support.

Where it works

Flat Pack Buildings works in every mode where Monkey Knowledge is active, including Impoppable, Half Cash and Deflation. It does nothing in CHIMPS, where all knowledge is switched off, and selling is disabled there anyway. Advanced and custom challenges, some Odyssey maps and the banner, relic and boss tiles of Contested Territory can also disable MK, and Rogue Legends never uses it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Flat Pack Buildings save on a Banana Farm?

$25 on Medium ($1,250 to $1,225) and $30 on Impoppable ($1,500 to $1,470). The discount is rounded to the nearest $5.

What is the sellback of a Banana Farm with Flat Pack Buildings?

72% of the tower and its upgrades, instead of the usual 70%. With Better Sell Deals it rises to 77%.

Does Flat Pack Buildings affect upgrades?

The sell bonus counts the full amount spent, upgrades included. The visible discount applies to the price of the Banana Farm and Monkey Village themselves.

Should I take Flat Pack Buildings or One More Spike first?

Flat Pack Buildings. It leads to the economy knowledge most players want, while One More Spike only matters if you use Spike Factories a lot.
