Hero
Quincy
“Are you kidding me? Nothing gets past my bow!”
Info
Quincy is the archer hero every player starts with. He unlocks during the tutorial, costs nothing in Monkey Money, and at $540 on Medium ($460 Easy, $585 Hard, $650 Impoppable) he is one of the cheapest heroes in the game. That price is the whole point: you can drop him on round 1 of almost any game, and in CHIMPS he is one of the few heroes you can afford with the $650 you start with on round 6.
Attack and damage type. Quincy fires arrows that ricochet from bloon to bloon, hitting up to 3 targets per arrow at level 1. The arrows deal sharp damage, so they cannot pop Lead or frozen bloons, and he cannot damage DDTs at any level without outside help. From level 7 every third volley explodes on impact, which adds splash damage but still leaves Black Bloon properties untouched.
Role. He is a generalist. Early on he is a cheap defence that solves camo problems on his own; in the mid game his abilities clean up ceramic groups; in the late game his attack speed and bonus MOAB-class damage turn him into steady blimp DPS. He does not buff other towers and does not make money, so his value is raw damage per dollar.
Key power spikes.
- Level 3: Rapid Shot, triple attack speed for 8 seconds.
- Level 5: camo detection, well before the first camo rounds get dangerous.
- Level 6 and 7: two arrows per shot, then exploding arrows every third shot.
- Level 8 and 14: arrows deal +2, then +3 bonus damage to MOAB-class bloons.
- Level 10: Storm of Arrows, an area barrage that can be aimed anywhere on the map.
- Level 11, 16, 18 and 20: big attack speed jumps that carry his late game.
- Level 19: three arrows per shot with more pierce.
He levels at the fastest rate (1.0x XP scale), so he reaches these spikes earlier than most heroes.
Monkey Knowledge that helps. The Heroes tree boosts him more than most: Big Bloon Blueprints and Weak Point add damage to every arrow, which is huge once he fires two or three per shot. Quick Hands gives +4% attack speed, Heroic Reach adds range, Self Taught Heroes and Monkey Education speed up leveling, Empowered Heroes starts him at level 3 with Rapid Shot ready, and Hero Favors cuts his price to $485 on Medium.

How to use Quincy
Quincy is the safest hero to learn the game with and still a real option in expert play. The trick is knowing what he does well (cheap early defence, camo, steady blimp damage) and what he can never do alone (Lead, DDTs, and serious support value).
When to pick Quincy
Pick Quincy when the start of the game is the hard part. His low price means he is on the map from round 1, collecting XP from the very first round, while pricier heroes wait for cash. That matters most in three situations:
- CHIMPS and Impoppable starts. With $650 on round 6 you can place Quincy immediately and let him hold the early rounds on his own while you save for farms or your first real tower.
- Maps where early camo is awkward. Level 5 camo detection arrives long before the first camo rounds, so you do not need to spend on a Village or a Ninja early.
- Beginners. He has no setup requirements, no synergy you must build around, and two abilities that are easy to time.
Pick something else when your strategy relies on a specific tower family. Striker Jones is better for explosives, Gwendolin for fire, Obyn Greenfoot for magic, Admiral Brickell for water towers and Benjamin when you want money. Quincy also struggles in Half Cash, where even his low price is a big chunk of the starting money.
Leveling and power spikes
Quincy has the fastest XP scale in the game (1.0x), so every round he spends on the map pushes him toward the levels that matter. Place him as early as you can; a hero placed on round 1 reaches level 10 far sooner than one placed on round 15.
The levels worth planning around:
- Level 3 (Rapid Shot): your emergency button for the early game.
- Level 5 (camo): he can now handle camo rounds alone, and with Rapid Shot he can solo the camo rounds before 40.
- Level 7 to 8: exploding arrows and +2 MOAB damage make him useful against the first MOABs around round 40.
- Level 10 (Storm of Arrows): gives you a reliable answer to grouped ceramics.
- Level 11: attack interval drops from 0.95s to 0.6s, his first big DPS jump.
- Level 15 to 16: Rapid Shot becomes 4x speed with a 45-second cooldown, and his base attack speeds up again.
- Level 18 to 20: attack interval falls to 0.25s and then 0.2s, Storm of Arrows gets much stronger, and level 19 adds a third arrow.
Ways to level him faster:
- Place him on round 1 every time unless you have a strong reason not to.
- Unlock Monkey Education (+8% XP), Self Taught Heroes (+10%) and Monkeys Together Strong (+5% with one hero). Empowered Heroes starts him at level 3.
- Keep him inside the radius of an Energizer (the Monkey Sub's 5-0-0), which makes heroes earn XP 50% faster.
- In the late game you can pay cash to buy a level. Scholarships makes that 10% cheaper. Remember that Monkey Knowledge is disabled in CHIMPS.
Best tower combos
Quincy has no hard synergies, so the best partners either cover his weaknesses or multiply his attack.
- Alchemist 4-2-0 (Stronger Stimulant). The buff adds damage and attack speed to every arrow. Because he fires two or three arrows per shot later on, he gets more out of the extra damage than most towers. Even a 3-x-x Berserker Brew is a noticeable boost in the mid game.
- Monkey Village with Monkey Intelligence Bureau (x-3-x). Lets him pop Lead and frozen bloons. A 2-3-0 Village also adds Jungle Drums attack speed and range.
- Lead and DDT cover. Since he cannot pop Lead, pair him with a cheap lead answer such as a Bomb Shooter, Mortar Monkey or Wizard Monkey, and plan a dedicated DDT answer for round 90 onward.
- Energizer (Monkey Sub 5-0-0). Faster leveling plus shorter ability cooldowns, useful in long freeplay games.
- Ceramic support. Before level 10, back him up with an area tower such as a Tack Shooter or a Bomb Shooter on ceramic rounds.
Best maps
Quincy works on almost every map because he is cheap and has decent range (52 from level 4, 54 from level 13). He does best where his ricochets get value:
- Beginner maps such as Monkey Meadow, Logs and Park Path, where he can hold the early game almost alone.
- Short expert maps such as Muddy Puddles and Infernal, where a cheap round 6 hero that defends the opening rounds by himself is exactly what you need in CHIMPS.
- Spots where lanes cross or bend back. Ricochets jump up to 50 units between bloons, so a placement that covers two parts of the track gets far more from each arrow.
His level 4 Focus toggle trades attack speed for 20% more range and faster arrows. Use it when he sits further back from the track, and turn it off when he already reaches everything.
Quincy in CHIMPS
Quincy is one of the best CHIMPS openers because of price alone: he is one of only three heroes (with Sauda and Ezili) you can afford on round 6. A common plan is Quincy first, then a Dart Monkey or another cheap tower for support, then farms or your main damage tower. With Rapid Shot he holds the early rounds and camo comes for free at level 5.
In the late game he is not a carry. Treat him as general MOAB damage that thins out BFBs and ZOMGs while your main towers do the heavy lifting. Remember that Monkey Knowledge, Powers and selling are disabled, so his early Big Bloon Blueprints and Weak Point bonuses are gone too. Plan your Lead coverage before round 28 and your DDT answer well before round 90.
Quincy in Impoppable and boss events
In Impoppable he costs $650 but Monkey Knowledge is active, so Empowered Heroes and Hero Favors make his opening much stronger. He is a fine safety net on rounds where you would otherwise leak, but most Impoppable runs on hard maps want a hero with stronger buffs.
In Boss Events he provides steady single-target damage. A level 20 Quincy with Stronger Stimulant and Rapid Shot adds meaningful DPS on blimps, but he is rarely the reason a boss falls. Use him when the boss tier is low enough that his cheap start and camo help more than a specialist hero would.
Abilities: when to use them
Rapid Shot (level 3). Triples attack speed for 8 seconds (12 seconds from level 13, 4x speed from level 15). Cooldown is 60 seconds, 45 from level 15. Fire it when a round is about to leak, not at the start of a wave. In the mid game, combine it with an Alchemist buff and fire it as the first MOAB reaches his range so all bonus damage goes into the blimp.
Storm of Arrows (level 10). Rains arrows on a 100-radius area for 3 seconds and follows Quincy's targeting priority, so it can hit bloons anywhere on the map. Cooldown is 70 seconds, 55 from level 18. Switch Quincy to Strong before using it on MOAB rounds so the storm lands on the blimps. Save it for dense ceramic groups or clustered MOABs rather than using it the moment it is ready.
Skins
Quincy's skins (Cyber Quincy and Wolfpack Quincy) are cosmetic only. They change his look and voice lines, not his stats.
Common mistakes
- Expecting him to pop Lead. His arrows are sharp. Bring a lead answer or a Monkey Intelligence Bureau before the Lead rounds.
- Forgetting about DDTs. He cannot damage them at any level without support.
- Placing him late. A cheap hero that sits in your hand for 10 rounds wastes his biggest advantage.
- Using Rapid Shot on cooldown. It is far stronger on the round that would otherwise leak.
- Leaving Focus on all the time. The range boost costs attack speed. Only use it when he truly needs the reach.

Frequently asked questions
Is Quincy good in CHIMPS?
Yes, as an opener. He is one of the few heroes you can buy on round 6 and he can defend the early rounds on his own, but late game he is support damage rather than a carry.
What level does Quincy get camo detection?
Level 5. Combined with Rapid Shot, he can handle every camo round before 40 without help.
Can Quincy pop Lead Bloons?
Not with his normal arrows, which deal sharp damage. A Monkey Village with Monkey Intelligence Bureau (x-3-x) lets him pop Lead and frozen bloons.
When does Quincy get Storm of Arrows?
At level 10. It covers a 100-radius area for 3 seconds and follows his targeting priority, so it can hit bloons anywhere on the map.
Is Quincy the best hero for beginners?
He is one of the best because he is free, cheap to place and needs no special setup. Once you understand the basics, try Striker Jones or Obyn Greenfoot for heroes that buff a tower family.
How much does Quincy cost?
$540 on Medium, $460 on Easy, $585 on Hard and $650 on Impoppable. Hero Favors lowers that by 10%.
