Double HP MOABs
How to beat Double HP MOABs in BTD6: blimp health values, the rounds that matter, best anti-MOAB towers, farming tips and FAQ.
All MOAB-class bloons have double health.
Guide
Double HP MOABs is a Hard mode where every MOAB-class bloon has twice its normal health. Everything else is Hard Standard: rounds 3 to 80, 100 lives, $650 starting cash and prices 8% above Medium. Regular bloons and Ceramics are unchanged, so the whole mode comes down to one question: can your defence kill blimps that are twice as tanky?
Double HP MOABs rules and health values
Every MOAB-class bloon has double health, and the bonus stacks with fortified:
The layers inside each blimp are unchanged, so a popped MOAB still releases normal Ceramics. The rest of the rules match Hard Standard, including Monkey Knowledge, Powers, farming, selling and Continues.
Unlocking and rewards
Double HP MOABs unlocks after Magic Monkeys Only on the same map, and beating it unlocks Half Cash. The first win pays the Hard amount of Monkey Money: 200 Beginner, 400 Intermediate, 600 Advanced and 800 Expert, plus a gold medal.
Why Double HP MOABs is hard
Until round 40, the game is identical to Hard Standard. From round 50 onwards almost every round contains blimps, and from round 60 they come in groups. A defence that wins Hard Standard with little margin will often leak the BFB on round 60 or the fortified MOAB groups after it. Some tools also lose value: a MOAB Assassin ability or Ground Zero can no longer pop a BFB layer in one hit, and Admiral Brickell's Mega Mine only takes a chunk out of a ZOMG. On the other hand, stun and stall tools such as Maim MOAB become relatively stronger.
Rounds to watch
- Rounds 3 to 39 and 41 to 49: exactly like Hard Standard. Use them to farm.
- Round 40: one MOAB with 400 health.
- Round 50: two MOABs with 20 Ceramics and fortified Leads.
- Rounds 52 to 58: between one and five MOABs per round, mixed with Ceramics.
- Round 60: a BFB with 1,400 health.
- Round 62: five MOABs and two fortified MOABs (800 each).
- Round 64 and 66: groups of MOABs with three fortified MOABs.
- Round 65: two BFBs plus three MOABs inside a large ceramic round.
- Rounds 68 to 73: BFBs and big MOAB groups.
- Round 75: seven BFBs plus fortified MOABs.
- Round 77: eleven MOABs and five BFBs.
- Round 79: four BFBs and two fortified BFBs (2,800 each).
- Round 80: the ZOMG with 8,000 health.
Best towers and crosspaths
- Bomb Shooter: MOAB Mauler (0-3-0) breaks early MOABs cheaply. MOAB Assassin (0-4-0) still helps but needs support.
- Monkey Ace: Fighter Plane (3-0-0) shoots blimps anywhere on the map, and Operation: Dart Storm (4-0-0) adds strong all-round popping. Top-path Aces are some of the best value in this mode.
- Sniper Monkey: Maim MOAB (4-0-0) stuns blimps over and over, which works especially well when blimps take longer to kill.
- Monkey Sub: First Strike Capability (0-4-0) deals huge damage to the strongest blimp on screen.
- Ninja Monkey: Sticky Bomb (0-0-4) removes MOABs but needs several bombs per BFB.
- Support: an Alchemist with Berserker Brew or Stronger Stimulant and a Monkey Village make your MOAB towers much more efficient.
- Glue Gunner: MOAB Glue (0-0-3) slows blimps so your damage has more time.
Farming for Double HP MOABs
Farm hard before round 40. Rounds 3 to 49 contain only one weak blimp, so this is the cheapest time to build an economy. IMF Loan (0-4-0 Banana Farm) works well with Benjamin and the Bank Deposits knowledge. Around round 55 to 65, start converting farms into MOAB damage.
Best heroes
- Benjamin: the best farming hero for a long game like this.
- Captain Churchill and Psi: strong blimp damage once levelled.
- Striker Jones: supports Bomb Shooter MOAB builds.
- Admiral Brickell: helpful on water maps, though her mine is less decisive here.
Step-by-step game plan
- Play rounds 3 to 30 like Hard Standard, with a slightly leaner defence and early farms.
- Have a MOAB Mauler or Fighter Plane by round 40.
- Keep farming until about round 50, then invest in MOAB damage.
- Before round 60, add a second anti-MOAB tower or Maim MOAB.
- From round 64, stack buffs and slows on your blimp damage.
- Before round 80, make sure you can deal 8,000 damage to a single ZOMG plus its children.
Common mistakes
- Using a Hard Standard build without extra MOAB damage.
- Building ceramic defence only; ceramic rounds are unchanged here.
- Relying on instant-kill abilities for BFBs.
Which maps to start with
Long Beginner maps give blimps more time in range. For examples of full farming routes, see our Double HP MOABs videos on the BTD6 Master YouTube channel.
