Hype Boost Monkey
Hype Boost Monkey in BTD6: the Pro Power that turns Monkey Boost into a reusable local ability. Unlock, upgrades with prices, best path and value.
Hype up your Monkeys with a High Intensity Hype ability boosting all Monkeys in radius.
Guide
The Hype Boost Monkey is the Pro version of Monkey Boost. Instead of one global boost, you place a hype monkey whose High Intensity Hype ability doubles the attack speed of every tower around it for 15 seconds, again and again for the rest of the game. It costs 300 Monkey Money and was added in version 54.0.
How to unlock it
- Earn XP by buying and using Monkey Boosts: buying one gives 800 XP and using one gives 200 XP.
- Unlocking the Hype Boost Monkey and its tier 1 upgrades needs 10,000 XP, which is 10 Monkey Boosts bought and used (1,000 Monkey Money).
- Tier 2 upgrades need 50,000 XP and tier 3 needs 150,000 XP. Buying and using the Pro itself earns XP twice as efficiently.
What it does at base
- Placed on land like a tower. Its footprint is about the size of a Boomerang Monkey.
- High Intensity Hype doubles the attack speed of all towers within 45 units for 15 seconds.
- The ability has a 90-second cooldown and starts on cooldown, so you cannot use it the moment you place it.
- Paragons are not affected, as with all Powers.
Version 55.0 lowered its cost from 400 to 300 Monkey Money and increased its range from 30 to 45 units.
Upgrades
Prices are for Medium difficulty. One path only, and one tier 3 of each path at a time.
Path 1: better hype
- Cheer ($560): the hype also gives +15 range to towers in its radius.
- Look Sharp ($1,150): adds Camo detection and tighter projectile spread to boosted towers.
- Monkey Spirit ($3,000): boosted towers can also pop every Bloon type and shoot through line-of-sight blockers.
Path 2: more uptime
- Resistance ($360): cooldown drops to 60 seconds, but the buff falls to about +33% attack speed.
- High Reps ($950): restores the full double attack speed and extends the hype to 20 seconds.
- No Quit ($2,600): hype lasts 30 seconds, and boosted towers cannot be stunned or disabled, which breaks existing stuns when it activates. This covers Boss effects such as Vortex and Blastapopoulos stuns.
Path 3: charges and passive buff
- Condition ($750): stores up to three hype charges. You can spend 100 Monkey Money to add two charges (not in Legends).
- Intensity ($1,100): towers in range always attack about 18% faster, even without the ability.
- Max Output ($3,300): the passive buff rises to about +43% attack speed, and the hype also gives +1 damage.
Best times to use it
- A long game with one main kill zone. Place it in the middle of your strongest towers and use the hype every time the dangerous part of a round arrives.
- Boss Events. No Quit stops Boss stuns from shutting your towers down, which is a big deal against Vortex and Blastapopoulos in normal Boss Events.
- Maps with line-of-sight blockers. Monkey Spirit lets boosted towers shoot through walls and obstacles.
- Late Impoppable rounds. Hype for rounds 95, 98 and 100, then let it recharge.
Best combos
- Tech Bot. Link it to the Hype Boost Monkey so the hype fires on cooldown, or use Ambush Tech to fire it when Bloons reach the zone.
- Dense groups of damage towers. Dartling Gunners, Super Monkeys, Tack Shooters and Sniper Monkeys gain the most from double attack speed.
- Energizing Totem and Monkey Village buffs. All stack on the same kill zone.
- Towers without Camo detection. Look Sharp gives them Camo while the hype is up.
Where you can't use it
- Disabled in CHIMPS, Races and ranked Boss Events.
- Disabled in challenges and Quests that turn Powers off, and in the editors' test mode.
- Contested Territory only allows Powers from Relics, and there is no Relic for it.
- In Odyssey and Rogue Legends only equipped Powers can be used.
- Pro Powers count toward tower limits in challenges and events, though their upgrades do not count toward Least Tiers.
Is it worth the Monkey Money?
It depends on how long you play. In a short medal run, a regular Monkey Boost at 100 Monkey Money does more at the one moment that matters, because it boosts the whole screen. Over a full Impoppable game, a Boss Event or freeplay, the Hype Boost Monkey fires many times and becomes better value than a stack of Boosts.
To get the most from it, plan to buy its upgrades with in-game cash once your defence is stable. In very deep freeplay, the space it takes up may be better used by another strong tower, since attack speed buffs have diminishing returns there.
Frequently asked questions
How do you unlock the Hype Boost Monkey?
Earn 10,000 XP by buying and using Monkey Boosts. That is 10 Monkey Boosts bought and used.
How much does the Hype Boost Monkey cost?
300 Monkey Money since version 55.0. It used to cost 400.
What does High Intensity Hype do?
It doubles the attack speed of all towers within 45 units for 15 seconds, on a 90-second cooldown.
Is Hype Boost Monkey better than Monkey Boost?
In long games, yes, because it can be used again and again. For one critical moment, Monkey Boost is stronger because it affects every tower on screen.

Path 3 is the best all-rounder because of its passive buff. Path 2 is best for Boss Events thanks to No Quit, and path 1 helps on maps with blockers or Camo problems.
Can you use the Hype Boost Monkey in CHIMPS?
No. Powers and Pro Powers are disabled in CHIMPS, Races and ranked Boss Events.
