Budget Pontoons

Budget Pontoons lowers the price of the Pontoon power from 50 to 40 Monkey Money. It is a second-row Powers knowledge that needs Cheaper Lakes, and costs one Knowledge Point with no Monkey Money.

Like Cheaper Lakes, the discount applies in the Powers shop. If your Monkey Knowledge is switched off when you buy, the Pontoon costs the full 50.

How it changes the game

A Pontoon is a floating platform you place on water. Almost any land tower can then be built on top of it. It is the counterpart of the Portable Lake: the lake brings water towers onto land, the Pontoon brings land towers onto water.

Pontoons are most useful on maps where the best spots are on water, such as maps with a big lake in the middle of the track. They let you put a Monkey Village, a hero or a key damage tower right where the bloons pass.

Budget Pontoons saves 10 Monkey Money per Pontoon, which is a 20% discount. After five purchases you have saved enough for a sixth. The knowledge does not change anything in a game; the Pontoon works exactly the same. Each Pontoon holds one tower, so plan which tower is worth the water spot before you buy several. Strong picks are towers that gain the most from a central position, like a Monkey Village or a short-range damage dealer.

Who should care:

• Players who regularly use Pontoons on water-heavy maps.
• Players grinding Boss Events (non-ranked) or freeplay where a perfect water spot matters.

Is it worth it?

Priority: situational. The saving is small unless you buy Pontoons often. The main reason to own it is that Powerful Monkey Storm requires both Budget Pontoons and Longer Boosts. Powerful Monkey Storm leads on to Fit Farmers, Supa-Thrive, Budget Cash Drops and Grand Prix Spree.

In the second row, Longer Time Stop is the priority because it leads to Pre-Game Prep. Budget Pontoons and Mauling MOAB Mines come after, depending on which branch you want next.

Where it works

The shop discount works whenever your Monkey Knowledge is switched on. Placing a Pontoon in a game needs a mode where Powers are allowed, so not CHIMPS, Races or ranked Boss Events. Pontoons have no relic in Contested Territory, so they cannot be used there either.
