Monkey Knowledge
Vine Rupture
Vine Rupture in BTD6 gives Spirit of the Forest an ability that bursts all its vines for 150 damage and long stuns. Cost, numbers and verdict.
Grants Spirit of the Forest Druid a new ability to burst all track vines, doing big damage to all non-lead Bloons. New vines will regrow after each Rupture.
Guide
Vine Rupture is a fifth-row Magic knowledge that gives the Druid's Spirit of the Forest a new activated ability: it bursts every vine it has grown along the track at once. You need 8 Knowledge Points in the Magic tree, Cold Front and a one-time 500 Monkey Money. Together with Deadly Tranquility, it unlocks Tiny Tornadoes. It was added in version 17.
How it changes the game
Spirit of the Forest (x-5-x Druid) covers the track with damaging vines. Vine Rupture turns those vines into a map-wide burst:
- Explosions: each vine explodes for 150 damage with 60 pierce, hitting everything standing on it.
- Stuns: bloons that survive are stunned, regular bloons for 7 seconds and MOAB-class bloons for 3 seconds. BADs and Boss Bloons are not stunned. DDTs can be stunned even when the explosion cannot damage them.
- Regrowth: after the rupture, the vines are gone and Spirit of the Forest needs time to grow new ones before another rupture is worth using. The ability has a 60 second cooldown.
Limits: the explosions cannot damage Lead Bloons unless the Druid has Hard Thorns as a crosspath, and they do not stun Leads either. They also cannot damage Frozen Bloons on their own, but since this branch requires Hot Magic, they can as long as Hot Magic is switched on.
Used well, one rupture can wipe a dense wave or freeze a group of blimps in place long enough for your other towers to finish them.
Is it worth it?
Priority: good for Druid players. If Spirit of the Forest is part of your late game, Vine Rupture adds a strong panic button and a big burst of damage at no extra in-game cost. If you never build tier 5 middle-path Druids, it does nothing directly, and its only other value is as one of the two parents of Tiny Tornadoes.
Compared with the other fifth-row Magic nodes, it is a strong pick for Druid fans, while Deadly Tranquility suits Ninja players and There Can Be Only One suits Super Monkey players.
Where it works
Vine Rupture works wherever Monkey Knowledge is enabled, including Magic Monkeys Only, Impoppable, freeplay and Boss Events (where the boss itself is not stunned). It is disabled in CHIMPS and in challenges that switch knowledge off.
