Super Monkey Beacon

Super Monkey Beacon in BTD6: the Pro Power that turns Super Monkey Storm into a reusable ability. Unlock, all upgrades with prices and best path.

A placeable Super Monkey Beacon with a Beacon Storm ability on a long cooldown.

In-game description

Guide

The Super Monkey Beacon is the Pro version of the Super Monkey Storm. Instead of a single Storm, you place a beacon with a Beacon Storm ability that calls a Storm across the whole screen every two minutes, for the rest of the game. It costs 400 Monkey Money and was added in version 50.0.

How to unlock it

  • Earn XP for it by buying and using Super Monkey Storms: buying one gives 800 XP (eight times its cost) and using one gives 200 XP.
  • Unlocking the Beacon and its tier 1 upgrades needs 12,500 XP, which is about 13 Storms bought and used (1,300 Monkey Money).
  • Tier 2 upgrades need 70,000 XP and tier 3 needs 200,000 XP. Buying and using the Beacon itself earns XP twice as efficiently.

The Powers Pro Launch Pack in the shop also unlocked it, together with the Banana Farmer Pro.

What it does at base

  • Placed on land like a tower. Can be placed between rounds.
  • Its Beacon Storm ability deals 2,000 damage to every Bloon on screen.
  • The ability has a 120-second cooldown and no starting cooldown, so you can use it immediately.
  • The damage does not soak through blimp layers, and it is not affected by Powerful Monkey Storm.

Version 51.0 cut the cooldown from 180 to 120 seconds.

Upgrades

Prices are for Medium difficulty. One path only, and one tier 3 of each path at a time.

Path 1: more storms

  1. Charged Beacon ($1,200): stores up to five Beacon Storm charges. You can spend 200 Monkey Money to add four charges instantly (not available in Legends).
  2. Storm Tremors ($1,300): a second storm hits two seconds later for 1,000 damage.
  3. Reverberation ($3,000): a third storm follows. The second now deals 3,000 damage and the third 4,500.

Path 2: faster storms

  1. Mini Stormcaller ($1,500): cooldown drops to 60 seconds, but damage drops to 850.
  2. Rapid Recharge ($1,200): cooldown drops to 45 seconds.
  3. Beacon of Legends ($3,500): adds a turret that fires like an unupgraded Super Monkey and gives you a free Super Monkey every 10 rounds.

Path 3: bigger storms

  1. High Impact ($1,300): Beacon Storm damage rises from 2,000 to 3,000.
  2. Bewildering Storm ($1,400): Bloons that survive the storm, mostly blimps, are stunned for 10 seconds.
  3. Piercing Wind ($5,000): the storm and its stun soak through every layer, including blimp layers, and each use permanently adds 750 damage, up to 150 uses.

Best times to use it

  • Any long game you would otherwise use several Storms in. One Beacon replaces a Storm every two minutes.
  • Ceramic rushes on rounds 63, 76 and 78. Charge a storm and fire it when the rush is packed on screen.
  • Late Impoppable rounds and freeplay with Piercing Wind. Damage that soaks through blimp layers and keeps growing is the Beacon's strongest form.
  • Blimp rounds with Bewildering Storm. A 10-second stun on every surviving blimp gives your towers a free window.

Best combos

  • Tech Bot or Tech Bot Prime. Link it to the Beacon so the storm fires on cooldown. With Ambush Tech, hold it until Bloons reach your kill zone.
  • Single-target blimp killers. The storm clears the small Bloons and Ceramics they struggle with.
  • MOAB Mine. Mines strip the shells, storms clean up the children.

Where you can't use it

  • Disabled in CHIMPS, Races and ranked Boss Events.
  • Disabled in challenges and Quests that turn Powers off, and in the editors' test mode.
  • Contested Territory only allows Powers from Relics, and there is no Relic for it.
  • In Odyssey and Rogue Legends only equipped Powers can be used.
  • Pro Powers count toward tower limits in challenges and events, though their upgrades do not count toward Least Tiers.

Is it worth the Monkey Money?

For players who play long games, yes. 400 Monkey Money is four Super Monkey Storms, and the Beacon keeps storming every two minutes for as long as the game lasts. In a full Impoppable run or a freeplay push it is far better value than single Storms.

For a quick medal attempt, one regular Storm at 100 Monkey Money is usually enough. Note that upgrades cost real in-game cash, so plan the Beacon into your economy, and pick path 3 for late game or path 2 for steady clearing.
