X-Ray Ultra

X-Ray Ultra in BTD6: Super Monkeys with Ultravision see and shoot through line-of-sight blockers. Why it leads to Vengeful True Sun God.

Ultravision allows Super Monkeys to see through and fire through blocking objects

In-game description

Guide

X-Ray Ultra is a fourth-row Magic knowledge that lets Super Monkeys with the Ultravision upgrade see and fire through objects that normally block line of sight. You need 4 Knowledge Points in the Magic tree, Strike Down The False and a one-time 250 Monkey Money. It unlocks There Can Be Only One. It was added in version 30.

How it changes the game

Many maps have walls, trees, buildings or other objects that block a tower's view of parts of the track. Super Monkeys fire straight-line projectiles, so blockers can waste a lot of their range. Ultravision (x-x-2 Super Monkey) adds range and Camo detection; with X-Ray Ultra it also ignores blockers:

  • Bottom-path Super Monkeys: Dark Knight, Dark Champion and Legend of the Night all keep Ultravision, so they can attack anything in range regardless of obstacles.
  • Ultravision crosspaths: popular builds such as a 3-0-2 Sun Avatar or other x-x-2 crosspaths on the top and middle paths gain the same freedom. That lets you use strong placement spots that were previously half-blocked.
  • Maps with heavy blockers: the more cluttered the map, the bigger the gain. On open maps, X-Ray Ultra changes nothing.

Tunnels are still respected: bloons inside tunnels remain untargetable. Super Monkeys without Ultravision get no benefit, and the knowledge does not change damage, pierce or range.

Is it worth it?

Priority: good, mainly as a route node. Its direct value depends heavily on the maps you play and whether you use Ultravision. On blocker-heavy maps it can be the difference between a perfect Super Monkey spot and an awkward one. For most players, though, the reason to buy X-Ray Ultra is that There Can Be Only One, which enables the Vengeful True Sun God, sits below it. Since version 30, There Can Be Only One requires X-Ray Ultra instead of Strike Down The False directly.

Among fourth-row Magic nodes, it is a good pick after Arcane Impale (route to Mana Shield) for players who use Super Monkeys.

Where it works

X-Ray Ultra is active wherever Monkey Knowledge is enabled, including Magic Monkeys Only, Impoppable, freeplay and Boss Events. It is disabled in CHIMPS and in challenges that switch knowledge off, so a Super Monkey spot that works only thanks to X-Ray Ultra will be blocked there.
