Round 78

Round 78 in BTD6: 75 Ceramics in a 1-second rush, 72 camo Ceramics, 150 Rainbows, 80 Purples and a BFB. How to beat it.

Guide

Round 78 is one of the most famous danger rounds in the game. It is 90 seconds long and has two separate ceramic rushes. About 10 seconds in, 75 Ceramics spawn within roughly one second. Much later, around 78 seconds in, 72 camo Ceramics arrive just as tightly, overlapping a stream of 80 Purple bloons.

Between those rushes there is a long line of 150 Rainbows and a single BFB. The camo rush catches many players out because it hides inside the Purple wave, and Purple bloons ignore fire, plasma and energy attacks. The round is worth 26,382 RBE, pays $4,684 from pops plus a $178 bonus.

How to beat round 78

Plan for two different rushes.

  1. First rush (around 10 s): 75 plain Ceramics. The same area damage that beat round 76 works: Glaive Lord or Perma Charge boomerangs, Inferno Ring, Sun Avatar, Plasma Monkey Fan Club or Grandmaster Ninja. Use one ability here if you need it.
  2. Middle section: the Rainbows and the BFB are easy. Use this time to let ability cooldowns recharge.
  3. Second rush (around 78 s): 72 camo Ceramics mixed with 80 Purples. Every tower you count on here must have camo detection, so a Radar Scanner village (x-2-x) over your main defence is essential. Do not rely only on Sun Avatars, plasma darts or fire for this part, because the Purples soak up their shots without popping. Sharp, normal or explosive damage such as Glaive boomerangs, ninjas, sniper shrapnel and Bomb Shooters keeps working.
  4. Backup: a Spike Factory with camo-capable spikes near the exit and a Glue Gunner or Ice Monkey to slow the rush.

In CHIMPS round 78 is where many runs end. Save your strongest area ability for the camo rush and make sure it fires once the clump is inside its range.

Alternate Bloons Rounds

The Alternate Bloons Rounds round 78 replaces the Rainbows with 150 Zebras and the first rush with 60 Fortified Ceramics, keeps the 80 Purples and 72 camo Ceramics and adds a Fortified BFB. RBE is 23,482.

  • 60 × Ceramic Bloon (Fortified)
  • 1 × BFB (Fortified)
  • 80 × Purple Bloon
  • 72 × Ceramic Bloon (Camo)
