Monkey Knowledge
Hot Magic
Hot Magic in BTD6 lets every Magic tower damage Frozen Bloons. Which Ninja, Super Monkey, Druid and Skywarden builds gain it, and if it is worth it.
All Magic type towers can pop Frozen Bloons.
Guide
Hot Magic is a second-row Magic knowledge that lets all Magic towers damage Frozen Bloons. It requires Lingering Magic, costs one Knowledge Point and no Monkey Money, and unlocks Warm Oak and Flame Jet.
Frozen Bloons are bloons encased in ice by Ice Monkeys and other freezing effects. Sharp attacks normally cannot pop them until they thaw, which can make an Ice Monkey a bad neighbour for some towers.
How it changes the game
Wizards and Alchemists already pop frozen bloons with their normal attacks, so they gain nothing. The towers that do gain are:
- Ninja Monkeys: their shurikens are Sharp and normally bounce off ice. With Hot Magic, any Ninja can work next to an Ice Monkey without a Monkey Intelligence Bureau. This is the biggest winner.
- Super Monkeys: base darts and the bottom and middle path's early tiers cannot hit frozen bloons. Hot Magic removes the need for Laser Blasts, Tech Terror or Dark Champion just to deal with ice.
- Druids without Hard Thorns: thorns and other Sharp attacks can hit frozen bloons without buying Hard Thorns. Spirit of the Forest's track vines also benefit.
- Skywardens without Storm's Pulse: they can hit frozen bloons too.
Hot Magic does not change the damage type. Sharp attacks stay Sharp, so they still get Sharp-only buffs such as Geraldo's Sharpening Stone. It also does not give access to Lead, Purple or Camo bloons. Mermonkeys do not benefit.
Is it worth it?
Priority: good. If you combine Ice Monkeys or freezing heroes and towers with Ninjas or Super Monkeys, Hot Magic removes an annoying weakness for one point. It is especially useful in Magic Monkeys Only, where freezing comes from sources such as Ball Lightning Druids rather than Ice Monkeys, and in challenges with freezing effects.
It also opens a strong column: Warm Oak leads to Cold Front and Vine Rupture, and Flame Jet leads to Arcane Impale and Mana Shield. Mana Shield alone makes Hot Magic a point every account buys.
Where it works
Hot Magic is active wherever Monkey Knowledge is enabled, including Impoppable, Magic Monkeys Only, Races and Boss Events. It is disabled in CHIMPS and in challenges that switch knowledge off, so a Ninja and Ice combo that works with knowledge may stall in CHIMPS.
