Mauling MOAB Mines

Mauling MOAB Mines increases the damage of the MOAB Mine power by 25%, from 5,000 to 6,250 per hit. Against Boss Bloons, it raises the mine's damage from 500 to 625. It is a second-row Powers knowledge that needs Bigger Camo Trap, and costs one Knowledge Point with no Monkey Money. The bonus was much smaller before version 46, so older guides undersell it.

How it changes the game

A MOAB Mine sits on the track and explodes when MOAB-class bloons touch it, hitting up to 10 of them. The damage only hits the outer layer and does not carry over to the children. The mine can hit the same blimp and its children again after a short cooldown.

5,000 damage already destroys the outer layer of any MOAB, BFB, ZOMG or DDT, so in the first 80 rounds the knowledge rarely changes the result. Where it matters:

• Freeplay. After round 80, blimp health keeps growing every round. The extra 1,250 damage keeps the mine able to finish off blimps for more rounds than the base version.
• BADs. A BAD layer has far more health than one mine can remove, so 25% more damage per hit is a real chunk off it.
• Boss Events (non-ranked). 625 damage per hit on a boss is still small compared with a full defence, but it adds up if you use several mines.

In the early game, before round 40, the knowledge does nothing, since there are no blimps to hit.

Is it worth it?

Priority: situational. If you use MOAB Mines in freeplay or as an emergency button in tough blimp rounds, the 25% bonus is useful. Otherwise, the real reason to buy it is the branch below: Supersize Glue Trap, which lets Glue Traps slow blimps, and then Ambush Tech.

In the second row, Longer Time Stop leads to Pre-Game Prep and is usually the higher priority. Budget Pontoons leads to Powerful Monkey Storm.

Where it works

This knowledge only matters where both Monkey Knowledge and Powers are allowed. Powers cannot be used in CHIMPS, Races or ranked Boss Events, and challenge creators can disable them. In Contested Territory, MK is only active on regular tiles. Rogue Legends never uses MK.
