Heroic Velocity

Heroic Velocity in BTD6 makes hero projectiles fly about 15% faster. What that changes, which heroes notice it, and why it leads to Quick Hands.

All Heroes' projectile speeds increased slightly.

In-game description

Guide

Heroic Velocity makes hero projectiles travel faster, by about 15%. It is a second-row Heroes knowledge that needs Heroic Reach, and costs one Knowledge Point with no Monkey Money.

It changes how fast arrows, shells, bolts and other projectiles reach their target. It does not change damage, pierce or attack speed.

How it changes the game

Projectile speed matters in two situations. First, against fast bloons, a slow projectile can be aimed at where a bloon was and miss because the bloon has moved on. Faster projectiles land more often, which is most noticeable on fast pinks, rainbows and on maps where bloons move across the hero's range at an angle. Second, against blimps at the edge of range, a faster projectile hits sooner and wastes less time in flight.

Heroes that fire travelling projectiles at a distance, like Quincy and Captain Churchill, are the ones where you may notice it. Melee heroes like Sauda and Pat Fusty, instant attacks and heroes whose main damage comes from abilities or sub-towers gain little.

In practice the effect is small and hard to see. You will not notice a difference in most games, and it never makes a hero stronger in numbers on the stat screen.

Is it worth it?

Priority: situational, but required. Heroic Velocity is one of the weakest Heroes knowledges on its own. You buy it because it is the only way to Quick Hands, which gives all heroes 4% faster attacks and is one of the two parents of Hero Favors. Hero Favors then leads to Empowered Heroes, one of the best knowledges in the whole system.

Compared with Scholarships, the other second-row Heroes knowledge, both are mostly stepping stones. Scholarships saves some cash when you buy hero levels; Heroic Velocity improves accuracy a little. Buy both on the way to Hero Favors.

A practical route: Heroic Reach and Heroic Velocity give you 2 points in the tree, and Quick Hands needs 3, so add one more top-row pick such as Ability Discipline before you buy Quick Hands.

Where it works

Heroic Velocity is active in every mode with Monkey Knowledge enabled and heroes allowed, including Impoppable and Boss Events. It is off in CHIMPS. Challenges that disable MK and Rogue Legends also run without it.
