Town Center
Info
Town Center is one of the original Beginner maps from BTD6's launch, and it is the map used in the game's tutorial. It has always been one of the Beginner maps pinned near the front of the map menu. The scene is a small seaside town with a stone road, three buildings, a windmill and a shoreline along one edge. The largest building looks a lot like the Monkey Town Hall from Bloons Monkey City.
Bloons enter on the left along the lower part of the road, follow the road through the town, turn around the smaller building on the right and leave on the right side. Parts of the road run side by side, close together, so a tower placed between them can reach both. Small and medium towers fit in the gap between the two closest parallel stretches. There is one entrance and one exit.
The track is short. At 34.65 RBS (about 953 range units) Town Center is among the shortest Beginner maps, with only End of the Road and Monkey Meadow being clearly shorter.
The three buildings and the windmill are the defining feature. They block line of sight, and they also take up spots that would otherwise be ideal for towers, such as the area covered by the house at the top right, which would be a perfect Tack Shooter spot. None of them can be removed. There is no high ground.
The sea along the edge counts as water, but it is in an awkward spot, a bit far from much of the track for short-range water towers. It is still useful: a Bloontonium Reactor Sub there can remove camo from bloons at the entrance, and Subs with Advanced Intel can shoot at anything your land towers see.
Because of its short track and many 3D obstacles, Town Center is often called the hardest Beginner map, together with Hedge and Lotus Island.
How to beat Town Center
Map overview for strategy
Town Center is harder than it looks. The road is short, the buildings block both vision and some of the best tower spots, and the water is not where you want it. New players often lose their first lives here after the tutorial ends.
The way to beat it is to use what the map gives you. The parallel stretches of road let a tower placed between them hit bloons twice. Straight sections near the start suit a Spike-o-pult or Juggernaut. And the sea, while awkward, supports Subs: with Advanced Intel they shoot at anything your other towers can see, so they do not need to be near the road.
Check every tower's range circle before buying, especially Snipers, Dartling Gunners and Super Monkeys, so a building does not swallow half its view.
Best towers
- Monkey Sub 2-0-4 in the sea with Advanced Intel, plus a 4-0-2 Bloontonium Reactor to decamo the entrance.
- Ninja Monkey 4-0-1 and 2-0-4 between the parallel roads.
- Alchemist 4-2-0.
- Dart Monkey 3-0-2 / 4-0-2 (Spike-o-pult or Juggernaut) near the start, aimed down the straight.
- Boomerang Monkey 4-2-0 between the parallel stretches.
- Mortar Monkey or Heli Pilot: neither needs line of sight.
- Monkey Village 2-2-0.
Best heroes
- Quincy: cheap and reliable on a short map.
- Admiral Brickell: strong with a Sub-based strategy in the sea.
- Sauda: between the parallel roads she hits both stretches.
- Striker Jones: good with Mortars and Bomb Shooters that ignore the buildings.
Easy and Medium
A Dart Monkey near the entrance and a Sub in the sea carry the early game. Add a Ninja between the roads for camo and an Alchemist or Mortar for leads. A 4-0-1 Ninja and a 2-0-4 Sub win Medium.
Hard
Farm two Banana Farms. Build a Ninja, Alchemist and Glaive between the parallel roads, two 2-0-4 Subs in the sea and a 2-2-0 Village. Add Sticky Bombs and a Heli Pilot for rounds 76 to 80.
CHIMPS
- Rounds 1 to 6: a Dart Monkey near the entrance and your hero between the parallel roads.
- Rounds 7 to 18: a Monkey Sub in the sea with 2-0-0 Advanced Intel, then a Ninja for camo before round 24.
- Rounds 19 to 30: an Alchemist next to the Ninja for the round 28 leads. Sub to 2-0-3.
- Rounds 31 to 45: Ninja to 4-0-1, Alchemist to 3-2-0, Sub to 2-0-4. A second Sub.
- Rounds 46 to 63: a 2-2-0 Village, a 4-2-0 Glaive between the roads, and a Sticky Bomb Ninja by round 60.
- Rounds 64 to 80: Alchemist to 4-2-0, a Bloontonium Reactor Sub for decamo at the entrance, and a Heli Pilot towards Apache Dartship.
- Rounds 81 to 100: a Sub Commander (2-0-5) to boost your Sub stack, or an Apache Prime, plus more Sticky Bombs for 98 to 100.
Expect to need more damage here than on most Beginner maps, because the short track gives your towers little time. If you start leaking, add another Advanced Intel Sub before anything else: it is cheap and does not care about the buildings.
Impoppable
Farming space is limited by the buildings. Get a few farms early, then follow the CHIMPS Sub core.
Other modes
- Military Only: Subs, Mortars and Heli Pilots all ignore the map's problems.
- Deflation: Advanced Intel Subs and a Ninja-Alchemist core.
- Half Cash: the short track punishes slow starts.
Dangerous rounds on this map
- Round 24: one camo green. A Bloontonium Reactor or Ninja must see the entrance.
- Round 28: six leads.
- Round 40: the first MOAB on a short track.
- Round 63: 122 dense ceramics. Buildings cut your coverage, so stack pierce between the roads.
- Round 76: 60 regrow ceramics that reach the exit fast.
- Round 78: camo ceramics and purples. Purples resist fire, energy and plasma.
- Round 95: camo regrow purples and fortified leads, then MOABs and DDTs.
- Round 98: 30 fortified BFBs and 8 ZOMGs. One of the toughest Beginner maps for this round.
- Round 99: 60 MOABs and 9 fortified DDTs.
- Round 100: one BAD that ignores slows.

Frequently asked questions
Is Town Center the hardest Beginner map?
It is often ranked as one of the hardest, along with Hedge and Lotus Island, because the track is short and buildings block vision and good tower spots.
Does Town Center have water?
Yes, the sea along the edge. It is far from much of the track, so Subs with Advanced Intel work best.
What is the best hero for Town Center?
Quincy for a simple start, or Brickell with a Sub strategy.
How do you beat Town Center CHIMPS?
Use Advanced Intel Subs in the sea, a Ninja and Alchemist between the parallel roads, then a Village, Glaive and Sticky Bombs. Finish with a Sub Commander or Apache Prime.
How much Monkey Money does Town Center give?
First-time medals pay 75, 125, 200 and 300 Monkey Money for the Easy, Medium, Hard and Impoppable/CHIMPS tiers. Replays pay one fifth.
Is Town Center the tutorial map?
Yes. It is the map used in the BTD6 tutorial, which is why many players see it first.
