Monkey Knowledge

Grand Prix Spree

Grand Prix Spree in BTD6 makes Race entries 10% cheaper, usually 90 Monkey Money instead of 100. Break-even math and who should buy it.

Monkey Money cost to enter Races is reduced by 10%.

In-game description

Guide

Grand Prix Spree reduces the Monkey Money cost of entering Races by 10%. Most paid race entries cost 100 Monkey Money, so the usual saving is 10 per attempt. It is the last knowledge in the Powers tree: you need 10 points in Powers and Budget Cash Drops, plus a one-time fee of 1,000 Monkey Money.

The discount applies to the entry fee itself, so it also works on races where Monkey Knowledge is disabled inside the game.

How it changes the game

In a Race Event, your first attempt is free, and after that you either wait for a free entry or pay to try again right away. Players who chase a top time often pay for many retries in a single week. Grand Prix Spree takes 10% off each of those paid retries.

The math is what decides if it is worth it:

  • The 1,000 fee is paid back after 100 paid race entries at the normal price.
  • The full path to the knowledge costs at least 1,750 Monkey Money in fees (Fit Farmers 250, Budget Cash Drops 500 and Grand Prix Spree 1,000), which takes about 175 paid entries to recover.
  • In weeks where the entry price is lowered, the saving per entry is smaller.

For a player who pays for a handful of retries per race, that is years of races. For a competitive racer who buys dozens of attempts every week, it pays off in a few months.

It has no effect inside a game. Powers are disabled in races anyway, so the rest of the Powers tree does not help there either.

Is it worth it?

Priority: situational, for competitive racers only. If you regularly pay for race retries, it is a long-term saving worth planning for. Everyone else should buy it last, after the more useful knowledge in every tree, or skip it.

There is nothing to compare it with in its row. Within the Powers tree, Pre-Game Prep is the knowledge that helps every game; Grand Prix Spree only helps your Monkey Money balance.

Where it works

The discount applies to race entry fees whenever your Monkey Knowledge is switched on, including races that disable MK during play. It has no use in other modes. CHIMPS, Boss Events and other events are not affected.

What does Grand Prix Spree do?

Race entries cost 10% less Monkey Money, usually 90 instead of 100.

100 paid entries to repay its own 1,000 fee, about 175 counting the fees for Fit Farmers and Budget Cash Drops.

Yes. The discount is on the entry fee, not inside the game.

Is Grand Prix Spree worth it?

Only if you pay for many race retries. For most players it is the last knowledge to buy.
