Cheaper Solution

Cheaper Solution is a fifth-row Primary knowledge that lowers the price of the Glue Gunner's Bloon Liquefier upgrade (tier 4 top path) by a flat $1,000. On Medium it drops from $5,000 to $4,000. You need 10 Knowledge Points in the Primary tree, Aviation Grade Glue and a one-time 500 Monkey Money. It unlocks Bonus Glue Gunner.

The discount is applied after the difficulty multiplier, so it is $1,000 everywhere: $4,250 to $3,250 on Easy, $5,400 to $4,400 on Hard and $6,000 to $5,000 on Impoppable. Version 57 fixed an issue where flat discounts like this one were calculated incorrectly outside Medium.

How it changes the game

Bloon Liquefier coats bloons in glue that deals strong damage over time, and its puddles keep hurting everything that walks through. It is a popular answer to dense mid-game rounds and the children of the first blimps. A 20% price cut on Medium shifts its timing:

• Rounds 40 to 63: you reach a 4-x-x Glue Gunner one or two rounds earlier, often right when Ceramic rushes and the first BFBs arrive.
• Spam or multi-lane maps: if you place more than one Liquefier, the saving applies to each, which adds up to a full extra tower over a game.
• Path to The Bloon Solver: reaching tier 4 sooner means you start saving for the tier 5 sooner.

Only the Bloon Liquefier upgrade is discounted. The tier 1 to 3 upgrades and The Bloon Solver cost the same as normal.

Is it worth it?

Priority: good. $1,000 is one of the largest flat discounts in the Primary tree, and Bloon Liquefier is used in plenty of strategies. More importantly, it is the only way to Bonus Glue Gunner, and More Cash needs Bonus Glue Gunner. So anyone going for More Cash must buy Cheaper Solution.

Among fifth-row Primary nodes, it is on par with Come On Everybody! (the other route to More Cash) and ahead of Big Cryo Blast, Hypothermia and Violent Impact for most players.

Where it works

Cheaper Solution is active in every mode with Monkey Knowledge on, at every difficulty, including Primary Only and Races. It is disabled in CHIMPS, where Bloon Liquefier always costs full price, and in challenges that turn knowledge off.
