In-game description

Guide

Wingmonkey is a fifth-row Military knowledge that adds a new targeting option, also called Wingmonkey, to every Monkey Ace. Instead of flying a fixed circle, figure eight or other set pattern, an Ace on Wingmonkey chases the bloons that are closest to the exit and tries to fly right over them. You need 8 Knowledge Points in the Military tree, Aeronautic Subsidy and a one-time 500 Monkey Money. It has nothing below it. It was added in version 15.

How it changes the game

The new flight mode changes how the Ace delivers its damage:

  • Chasing the lead bloon: the Ace moves toward a point slightly ahead of the frontmost bloon, then picks a new destination once it gets close. It behaves a bit like the planes from the Aircraft Carrier, but uses its own movement rules.
  • Groups of three: Aces on Wingmonkey organize into groups of three, with the second and third following the first.
  • Speed cap: on Wingmonkey, an Ace's movement speed caps at 60 units per second. That cancels the extra flight speed of Fighter Plane and speed buffs such as Rosalia's.
  • Paragon: the Goliath Doomship can use Wingmonkey too.

Where it shines: Aces whose damage depends on being above bloons, such as Exploding Pineapple with Targeted Pineapples, Bomber Ace or Ground Zero builds, get their payloads right on top of the leading bloons. On maps with long or scattered tracks, a fixed pattern may never cover the critical spot, and Wingmonkey solves that.

Where it hurts: the top path's radial darts and the bottom path's homing darts already find targets well from a standard pattern, and the speed cap can make fast Aces slower.

Is it worth it?

Priority: situational. It is a tool, not a buff. Pineapple and bomb-focused Ace players get the most from it. Many players never switch to it. Some find the extra targeting option a nuisance when cycling through targets, but since version 57 you can toggle single knowledges off in the Monkey Knowledge menu.

Because it leads nowhere, most players buy it late. Advanced Logistics, its sibling under Aeronautic Subsidy, is far more important.

Where it works

Wingmonkey is active in all modes where Monkey Knowledge is enabled, including Military Only, Races and Boss Events. It is disabled in CHIMPS and in challenges that switch knowledge off. Rogue Legends has its own progression, where Wingmonkey is a separate Rogue XP Shop unlock for 1,500 Rogue XP.

Why does my Fighter Plane fly slower on Wingmonkey?

Wingmonkey caps Ace movement speed at 60 units per second.

Can the Goliath Doomship use Wingmonkey?

Yes.

Can I hide the Wingmonkey option?

Since version 57, you can toggle this knowledge off individually.
