How to use Goliath Doomship

Goliath Doomship is the Monkey Ace Paragon, built by merging Sky Shredder, Tsar Bomba and Flying Fortress. It costs $900,000 on Medium, making it the most expensive Paragon in the game, and it is also widely considered the strongest and most flexible one. It flies like an Ace, starts on Centered Path targeting, and has every Centered Path flight option.

What it does

At degree 1 the Doomship has four weapons. Every one of them deals bonus damage to Boss Bloons.

  • Radial missiles: every 0.66 seconds it fires 12 non-homing missiles in a circle, whether or not bloons are nearby. Each missile pierces through up to 35 bloons for 200 damage, then explodes for another 300 damage. Bosses take double from both parts.
  • Seeking missiles: at the same rate, it launches 8 homing missiles locked to Strong. Each hits for 200 damage and then explodes with 35 pierce for 300 damage, again doubled against bosses.
  • Forward darts: two rapid streams of darts, one shot every 0.11 seconds, with 50 pierce and 150 damage each (300 against bosses). They only fire when a bloon is within a 60-degree cone in front of the plane, and they curve slightly toward targets.
  • Carpet Bomb ability: three bombers fly in after a short delay and drop 8 bombs along a straight line you set with the targeting menu. Each bomb hits up to 150 bloons for 30,000 damage in a 50-unit radius and stuns survivors for 8 seconds, through every layer. The cooldown is 60 seconds. If you never set the line, it runs diagonally from the top left to the bottom right.

All of these numbers grow with the Paragon's degree.

When to buy it

Buy it after your three tier 5s have had time to pop as much as possible, typically in freeplay or when a boss fight needs it. You need three things:

  1. The Goliath Doomship unlocked with Monkey Ace XP, which requires every other Ace upgrade to be unlocked first.
  2. A Sky Shredder (5-x-x), a Tsar Bomba (x-5-x) and a Flying Fortress (x-x-5) on the map at the same time.
  3. $900,000 on Medium, more on Hard and Impoppable. Paragon prices cannot be discounted.

When you buy it, every other Monkey Ace on the map and any Paragon Power Totems are absorbed into the Doomship.

Raising the degree

Degree goes from 1 to 100 and scales attack speed, pierce, damage and ability cooldown. Degree 100 needs 200,000 power. Power comes from four sources:

  • Cash: money spent on absorbed Aces (not counting tier 5s) plus extra cash you add with the slider in the Paragon menu. Capped at 80,000 power.
  • Extra tier 5s: each tier 5 beyond the first three adds 6,000 power, up to 50,000.
  • Pops and income: 1 power per 180 damage dealt by absorbed Aces, up to 125,000.
  • Paragon Power Totems: 2,000 power each, with no cap.

Practical tips: most pops will come from your Flying Fortress, sometimes with a Sky Shredder. Place extra Aces early with cheap crosspaths such as 0-2-2 or 0-3-2 to add cash value, and use 2-0-4 Spectres if you want to sink more money into absorbed towers. The Paragon of Power Monkey Knowledge also helps.

How to use it

The Doomship rewards micro more than any other Paragon. Keep it flying over the bloons so the non-homing missiles hit, point its nose at the wave so the forward darts fire, and aim Carpet Bomb along the part of the track where the toughest bloons will be when the bombers arrive. Time the ability for the moment a boss or a big blimp wave reaches the line, so the 8-second stun buys your other towers time.

It works on almost any map because it does not need line of sight.

Boss events and late game

In boss events, the Doomship is a top choice against tier 5 bosses, with very few bad matchups. Its weaker fights are Lych, where its burst can make skull timing awkward, and Blastapopoulos, where the high price and meteor disruption cut into its damage and ability uptime. Other Paragons can boost it: a Navarch of the Seas and the Master Builder's Power Glove both pair well with the Doomship. Push the degree as high as you can, because it has the highest boss damage potential of any Paragon.

Is it worth it?

If you can afford $900,000 and you are willing to micro it, yes. It is the best all-round Paragon for bosses and late game. If you do not want to manage flight paths and ability timing, a cheaper Paragon may give similar results with less effort.
