How to use Flying Fortress
Flying Fortress triples the Spectre barrage. Each shot now fires three projectiles: one at the first bloon, one at the last and one at the closest bloon to the plane. The barrage also fires about 50% faster. Barrage darts gain +14 damage against MOAB-class bloons, barrage bombs go from 3 to 5 damage (keeping the +4 ceramic bonus) and from 20 to 30 pierce, and the main homing darts go from 3 to 6 damage. Every attack becomes the Normal damage type, so it pops anything.
When to buy it
At $90,000 on Medium, Flying Fortress is one of the most expensive tier 5s. In CHIMPS, the best plan is to save from Spectre with Rosalia's Ace discount. With careful micro of Rosalia and the Spectre through the 80s, many players afford it by the late 80s, after which the rest of the game becomes much easier.
The standard crosspath is 2-0-5 (Rapid Fire and Lots More Darts). Choose 0-2-5 only if you need built-in camo detection.
Strengths and limits
Flying Fortress deals huge rapid-fire damage and does not need line of sight, so it ignores obstacles. It works best on maps with one lane or alternating lanes. On maps with several lanes active at once, the plane can only be in one place, so you need help on the other lanes.
Boss events and Paragon
In boss events, a heavily buffed Flying Fortress is a top-tier damage dealer. It is also the main source of pops when you plan to build the Goliath Doomship, so placing it early helps your Paragon degree.
Is it worth it?
Yes, if you can reach it. It is one of the strongest single-tower carries in the game. Sky Shredder is cheaper and more global, Tsar Bomba gives burst, but for sustained late-game and boss damage, Flying Fortress is the Ace's best tier 5.
