Regular bloon
Purple Bloon
Info
The Purple Bloon is the anti-magic bloon of Bloons TD 6. It has one layer of its own and releases two Pink Bloons when popped, for an RBE of 11. A leaked Purple costs 11 lives.
Purples are fast: they move at 3x the speed of a Red, much faster than Blacks and Whites and only slightly slower than Yellows (3.2x) and Pinks (3.5x). They are immune to Energy, Plasma, Fire and Frigid damage. That shuts out a long list of popular attacks: the Wizard Monkey's basic bolts and fire spells, the Super Monkey's Laser Blasts, Plasma Blasts and Sun Avatar, the Tack Shooter's Ring of Fire, fire grapes and burn effects, and heroes such as Gwendolin and Adora. Sharp, explosive, acid, cold and normal damage all pop Purples.
Where you meet them. Purples first appear on Round 25, which sends 10 Purples with 25 Regrow Yellows. Round 32 has 10 more alongside 15 Blacks and 20 Whites. Round 45 includes 10 Camo Purples, Round 48 has 30 Camo Regrow Purples, and Round 62 is the big one: 250 Purples, 15 Camo Regrow Rainbows, 5 MOABs and 2 Fortified MOABs. Round 78 adds 80 Purples to a huge Ceramic rush, and Round 95 on Impoppable and CHIMPS sends 500 Camo Regrow Purples.
Variants
- Camo Purple: first on Round 45.
- Camo Regrow Purple: Rounds 48 and 95.
- Fortified: does not apply to Purples.
Freeplay. From Round 81 a Purple releases only one Pink (RBE 6). Purples also show up in early freeplay rounds.
Alternate Bloons Rounds. In Alternate Bloons Rounds Purples come much earlier: 3 on Round 15 and 16 on Round 22. Round 25 has 10 Regrow Purples, Round 38 has 42, Round 56 has 40 Camo Regrow Purples and Round 62 again has 250.
How to pop Purple Bloon
Purple Bloons are immune to Energy, Plasma, Fire and Frigid damage. Any sharp, explosive, acid, cold or normal attack pops them. They punish defenses built on magic, fire and plasma, which are exactly the towers that dominate many late-game strategies.
Which damage types work and fail
Cannot pop Purples:
- Wizard Monkey basic bolts (Energy), plus Wall of Fire and Dragon's Breath (Fire).
- Super Monkey 1-0-0 Laser Blasts (Energy), 2-0-0 Plasma Blasts and 3-0-0 Sun Avatar.
- Tack Shooter 4-0-0 Ring of Fire and Monkey Buccaneer 0-2-0 Hot Shot grapes (Fire).
- Burn damage from Mortar 0-0-2 Burny Stuff (the shell itself still pops Purples).
- Heroes: Gwendolin (none of her attacks pop Purples), Adora's normal bolts (Plasma), Geraldo, and Obyn Greenfoot's wolf spirit.
Can pop Purples: Dart Monkeys, Boomerangs, base Tack Shooters, Ninjas, Snipers, Bomb Shooters, Mortar shells, Alchemists (acid pops every bloon type), Glue Gunner 2-0-0 Corrosive Glue, Ice Monkeys (Cold damage) and any attack with normal damage.
Note the Wizard Fireball: the fireball itself is fire, but its explosion is explosive, so the explosion still pops Purples.
Fixing a magic or fire defense
- Add one sharp or explosive tower. A Bomb Shooter, a Dart Monkey 0-0-3 Crossbow or a Ninja pops Purples and their Pink children with no special upgrades.
- Monkey Village 0-3-0 Monkey Intelligence Bureau. Every tower in range deals normal damage and can pop Purples.
- Strike Down The False. This knowledge lets the 3-0-0 Sun Avatar pop Purples. The 4-0-0 Sun Temple and 5-0-0 True Sun God already can.
- Ezili's Heartstopper (level 3) removes Purple immunity from every bloon for its duration and also blocks Regrow.
- Adora's Long Arm of Light (level 3) lets her pop Purples for a short time.
- Corvus's Haunt strips the Purple property from the strongest bloon in his range every few seconds.
Early game (Rounds 25 to 32)
Round 25 is the first Purple round: 10 Purples and 25 Regrow Yellows. If your opening is a Wizard or a Super Monkey with Laser Blasts, the Purples go straight through. A Dart Monkey, Tack Shooter, Ninja or Bomb Shooter handles ten Purples easily. Purples are fast, so range matters more than damage.
Round 32 (15 Blacks, 20 Whites, 10 Purples) tests three immunities at once. Sharp damage pops all of them.
Mid game: Rounds 45 to 62
- Round 45: 180 Pinks, 10 Camo Purples, 4 Fortified Leads and 25 Rainbows.
- Round 48: 40 Regrow Pinks, 30 Camo Regrow Purples, 40 Rainbows and 3 Fortified Ceramics.
- Round 62: 250 Purples alongside Camo Regrow Rainbows and MOABs. This is the round that kills fire and plasma builds. 250 Purples become 500 Pinks, so you need real pierce, not just one Purple-capable tower.
Strong answers for Round 62 include Bomb Shooters with x-x-2 Frag Bombs or 4-x-x Bloon Impact, Tack Shooter 0-3-0 Blade Shooter, Glaive Ricochet Boomerangs and an MIB Village under your magic towers.
Late game
- Round 78: 80 Purples inside a wave of 150 Rainbows and 147 Ceramics.
- Round 95 (CHIMPS and Impoppable): 500 Camo Regrow Purples, 250 Camo Regrow Fortified Leads, 50 Fortified MOABs and 30 DDTs. Many late-game defenses that use plasma and fire fail here. Plan an MIB Village or a dedicated sharp or explosive cleanup layer well before Round 95.
Hero picks
Ezili is the strongest Purple counter among heroes: her Heartstopper removes Purple immunity globally for its duration. Corvus strips Purple from single targets with Haunt. Striker Jones, Captain Churchill and Admiral Brickell use explosive or normal attacks that pop Purples without help. Avoid relying on Gwendolin or Adora's base bolts for Purple rounds.
Mode notes
- CHIMPS and Impoppable: Round 95 makes Purples a late-game problem as well as an early one, and with one life you cannot afford a single leak.
- Alternate Bloons Rounds: Purples arrive on Round 15 (3) and Round 22 (16), long before most magic-heavy openings expect them.
- Magic Monkeys Only: many magic attacks cannot pop Purples, so pick sharp-damage magic towers like the Ninja, Alchemist or Druid thorns.
Common mistakes
- Building Super Monkey 3-x-x or a fire Wizard as the only damage and leaking Round 25 or Round 62.
- Assuming Ring of Fire handles everything. It is fire and cannot pop Purples.
- Forgetting that Purples are fast (3x), so short-range sharp towers need good placement.
- Not preparing camo and regrow control for Rounds 48 and 95.
