How to use Frag Bombs

Frag Bombs makes every explosion release 8 fragments (10 with the Fraggy Frags Monkey Knowledge). Each frag deals 1 sharp damage and effectively hits one bloon, and frags never hit the bloon the bomb landed on. The tower also gains 2 range, reaching 54. Sharp frags can pop black bloons but not lead, so frags and explosions cover each other a little.

When to buy it

On its own Frag Bombs is weak, because the frags miss the main target and hit only one bloon each. Its strength is as a crosspath, because top and middle path upgrades make frags much stronger:

It is also the required step to Cluster Bombs.

Is it worth it?

Yes, as a crosspath for collateral damage on tier 3 and higher Bomb Shooters. As a standalone tower, a different upgrade path is better value.
