Monkey Money

How to earn Monkey Money fast in BTD6: rewards per map and mode, Mo' Monkey Money, events and achievements, and the smartest things to spend it on.

Guide

Monkey Money (MM) is BTD6's main currency outside of games. You earn it by winning maps and playing events, and you spend it on heroes, Powers, deep Monkey Knowledge, race entries, continues and more. It is separate from the cash you use inside a game.

How much Monkey Money does a win give?

Every map pays Monkey Money the first time you earn each medal, based on two things: the map's difficulty and the mode's difficulty.

The base reward for a first-time win is:

That base is multiplied by the map difficulty: ×1 on Beginner, ×2 on Intermediate, ×3 on Advanced and ×4 on Expert. So a first CHIMPS win on an Expert map pays 1,200, while a first Easy win on a Beginner map pays 75.

Replaying a mode you already beat pays only 20% of the first-time amount: 15 for Beginner Easy, up to 240 for Expert Impoppable or CHIMPS.

The Monkey Knowledge Mo' Monkey Money adds 10% to all game-win rewards, rounded down, including Daily Challenges. It is disabled in CHIMPS like all Monkey Knowledge, so CHIMPS wins pay the plain amount.

The fastest ways to earn Monkey Money

  1. Collect first-time medals on harder maps. This is by far the biggest source. One new Hard medal on an Expert map (800) is worth more than ten Beginner replays on Impoppable. Work through the Hard-group modes on Advanced and Expert maps, where each medal pays 600 to 800.
  2. Get Mo' Monkey Money early. It costs only three Knowledge Points in the Magic tree and boosts every win for the rest of your account's life.
  3. Play every Daily Challenge. They pay based on their map and mode, plus extra daily rewards.
  4. Place in Races. The leaderboard pays 1,000 for 1st, 750 for 2nd, 500 for 3rd, 450 for the top 50, 400 for the top 1%, 300 for the top 10%, 200 for the top 25%, 100 for the top 50% and 50 for the top 75%. Extra race attempts cost Monkey Money, so only keep paying if your times are still improving.
  5. Clear Odysseys and Boss Events. Odysseys pay more on harder difficulties, and Boss Events pay for each threshold you reach for the first time.
  6. Finish achievements. Several pay big one-time amounts: Ultimate Bloons Master (2,000), Superior Bloons Master, Dr. Monkey, Impoppable and Insta Century (1,000 each), and Monkey Fan Club (500 for linking a Ninja Kiwi account). See achievements.
  7. Smaller extras. The daily chest, Quests, Golden Bloons, Monkey Teams, Contested Territory, promo codes and levelling up all add a little more.

Best repeatable farm

Once your first-time medals are gone, the best repeatable source from regular play is replaying an Expert map on Impoppable: 240 per win, or 264 with Mo' Monkey Money. Pick the Expert map and strategy you can finish fastest, since Monkey Money per hour is what matters. On top of that, Daily Challenges, races and events refresh constantly and usually pay better than grinding replays.

What to spend Monkey Money on

Monkey Money buys:

  • Heroes and hero skins
  • Deep Monkey Knowledge (the lower rows cost 250, 500 or 1,000 Monkey Money once each)
  • Powers and Pro Powers
  • Extra race attempts
  • Continues after a lost game
  • Contested Territory tickets, creating a Team, and the Map Editor
  • Insta Store offers once you complete their goal
  • Monkey Knowledge respecs (2,000 each)

Smart spending priorities

  1. Permanent unlocks first. Monkey Knowledge fees and heroes you will actually use pay off in every future game. Single-use items are gone after one use.
  2. Heroes for your playstyle. Buy a hero when you have a plan for it, for example a strong economy or CHIMPS hero for the maps you are working on, instead of collecting every hero right away.
  3. Avoid continues. Paying to continue a lost game is usually worse value than learning the round and retrying, unless it saves a long Impoppable or freeplay run.
  4. Do not overbuy Powers. You get many Powers for free from daily rewards and events. Buy them only for a specific hard medal, and favour high-value ones like Cash Drop (200 for $2,500 in-game) or Monkey Boost.
  5. Be careful with race attempts. Extra attempts cost Monkey Money. The Grand Prix Spree knowledge cuts that by 10% if you race often.

Buying Monkey Money

You can buy Monkey Money with real money in the Shop or on the official web store, where the packs usually include bonus Monkey Money or Insta Monkeys. If you do buy, entering the creator code BTD6MASTER supports this site and our videos at no extra cost. Never use "free Monkey Money" generators: they do not work and only put your account at risk.

Frequently asked questions

Do you get Monkey Money for replaying a map?

Yes, but only 20% of the first-time reward for that map and mode.

Does Mo' Monkey Money work on events?

Mo' Monkey Money and the next Monkey Knowledge fees, then the hero that best fits the maps you are playing.
