Bonus Glue Gunner

Bonus Glue Gunner is a sixth-row Primary knowledge that makes the first Glue Gunner you place each game free. You need 10 Knowledge Points in the Primary tree, Cheaper Solution and a one-time 1,000 Monkey Money. It was added in version 30 and, together with Bonus Monkey!, unlocks More Cash.

You can only get one free tower per game from these two knowledges. If you own both, placing the free Glue Gunner removes the free Dart Monkey, and the other way around.

How it changes the game

A Glue Gunner costs $225 on Medium, slightly more than a Dart Monkey, so the free Glue Gunner saves a bit more cash. What you get for it is different:

• Early slow, not early pops. A 0-0-0 Glue Gunner does not pop bloons by itself in a useful way. It slows them so your other towers get more time. That makes it best when you already have damage, for example a hero placed on round 1.
• Fast path to useful upgrades. Because the base tower is free, Glue Splatter, Corrosive Glue or MOAB Glue arrive a little sooner.
• Specific strategies: stall-heavy plans, Glue-based Half Cash openings or maps where a Glue Gunner at the entrance is part of the standard setup.

When both are unlocked, the free tower choice is yours each game. Most players pick the Dart Monkey because it pops from round 1. Pick the Glue Gunner when your opener already has damage and you plan to build a Glue Gunner anyway.

Is it worth it?

Priority: good. As a standalone effect, it is slightly weaker than Bonus Monkey! for most openings, because slowing bloons does not stop leaks on its own. Its real importance is structural: since version 30, More Cash requires both Bonus Monkey! and Bonus Glue Gunner, so you need this node for the extra $200 starting cash.

The cheapest order for most accounts is to finish the Dart Monkey column to Bonus Monkey! first, then the Glue column through Aviation Grade Glue and Cheaper Solution to Bonus Glue Gunner, then More Cash.

Where it works

Bonus Glue Gunner is active in every mode where Monkey Knowledge is enabled, including Impoppable, Primary Only, Races and Boss Events. It is disabled in CHIMPS and in challenges that switch knowledge off. If a challenge bans the Glue Gunner, the free one cannot be placed either.
