Gun Coolant

Gun Coolant is a fourth-row Military knowledge that reduces the attack cooldown of every Monkey Ace by 10%, which works out to about 11% more attacks per second. You need 8 Knowledge Points in the Military tree, Targeted Pineapples and a one-time 250 Monkey Money. It unlocks Aeronautic Subsidy.

How it changes the game

A Monkey Ace's damage comes from volume: radial dart bursts, homing darts, pineapples and bombs. A flat 10% shorter cooldown makes all of it come faster:

• Top path (Rapid Fire to Sky Shredder): the radial bursts fire more often, which helps an Ace clean up dense rounds and adds steady damage to blimps in the late game.
• Bottom path (Neva-Miss Targeting, Spectre, Flying Fortress): more homing darts and bombs per second. Spectre and Flying Fortress are popular late-game damage towers, and 11% more output on a tier 5 is a lot of extra damage.
• Middle path: Exploding Pineapple, Bomber Ace and their upgrades still fire the Ace's dart attack, which gets the same boost.

The bonus is a permanent tower modifier and stacks with Monkey Village, Alchemist and hero attack speed buffs. Combined with Accelerated Aerodarts and Airforce Upgrades, your Aces fire faster, with faster darts and more pierce. It does not change ability cooldowns such as Ground Zero or Tsar Bomba.

Because the bonus is a percentage, its value grows with the tower. On a cheap Ace in the early game it is a handful of extra darts; on a fully supported Flying Fortress or Sky Shredder it is a large chunk of extra damage every round, which is why late-game and Boss Event players value it.

Is it worth it?

Priority: good. It is the strongest pure power boost for Monkey Aces in the Military tree, and it sits on the route to Aeronautic Subsidy, Wingmonkey and Advanced Logistics. Even players who rarely use Aces end up buying it for Advanced Logistics.

Among fourth-row Military nodes, it ranks with Trade Agreements and Quad Burst, ahead of Paint Stripper and Cross the Streams.

Where it works

Gun Coolant is active in every mode with Monkey Knowledge enabled, such as Standard, Impoppable, Military Only, Races and Boss Events. It is disabled in CHIMPS and in challenges that switch knowledge off.
