Regular bloon
White Bloon
Info
The White Bloon is the ice-proof partner of the Black Bloon. In Bloons TD 6 it has one layer of its own and releases two Pink Bloons when popped, giving it an RBE of 11. A leaked White costs 11 lives.
Whites move at 2x the speed of a Red, a little faster than Blacks (1.8x) and slower than Purples (3x). They look smaller than most bloons but share the Red's hitbox. Their immunity is to freezing damage: the Cold, Glacier and Frigid damage types. In practice that means a basic Ice Monkey cannot pop or freeze them, and other freezing attacks such as the Mermonkey's middle-path waves pass through without effect. Explosions, darts, fire, magic and everything else pop Whites normally.
Where you meet them. Whites first appear on Round 22, which sends 16 White Bloons. Round 23 follows with 7 Whites and 7 Blacks, Round 32 has 20 Whites with 15 Blacks and 10 Purples, Round 35 has 25, and Round 37 brings 25 Whites plus 7 Camo Whites. Round 70 is the largest White round in standard play: 120 Camo Regrow Whites alongside 200 Rainbows and 4 MOABs. Whites also come out of every Zebra Bloon (one each, before Round 81), so they keep appearing inside Rainbows and Ceramics.
Variants
- Camo White: first sent on Round 37 (7 of them). Needs camo detection.
- Camo Regrow White: Round 70 sends 120 of them, a serious camo and regrow check.
- Fortified: does not apply to Whites.
Freeplay. From Round 81 regular bloons release only one child, so a White releases one Pink (RBE 6), and Zebras release only a Black, not a White.
Alternate Bloons Rounds. In Alternate Bloons Rounds a single White shows up on Round 14. Round 31 sends 8 Camo Whites, Round 35 sends 25 Regrow Whites, Round 37 sends 25 Whites and 25 Regrow Whites, and Round 39 sends 10 Camo Regrow Whites.
How to pop White Bloon
White Bloons are immune to freezing and nothing else. Darts, tacks, bombs, fire, magic, plasma and acid all pop them. Whites only cause trouble for defenses that rely on Ice Monkeys or other freezing attacks to pop and slow bloons.
Which damage types work and fail
- Fails: Cold, Glacier and Frigid damage. This covers the base Ice Monkey's freeze blast, most Ice Monkey upgrades and the freezing attacks of other towers and heroes such as Silas.
- Works: everything else, including explosions. A basic Bomb Shooter pops Whites even though it cannot pop Blacks.
Whites are also not slowed by freezing. If your plan is "freeze everything, then pop it", Whites keep walking at full speed while the frozen bloons around them sit still, and they reach the exit ahead of the wave.
Fixing an ice-based defense
- Add any non-ice damage. A Dart Monkey, Tack Shooter, Boomerang, Ninja or Bomb Shooter near your Ice Monkey pops Whites without any special upgrade.
- Monkey Village 0-3-0 Monkey Intelligence Bureau. Towers in range deal normal damage and can pop every bloon type, including Whites.
- Silas. From level 5 his presence gives all ice attacks a 50% chance to ignore White Bloon immunity, and from level 13 it is guaranteed. Note that his slowing aura still does not affect Whites or Zebras.
- Glue Gunner. Glue is not a freeze, so it slows Whites normally. Use it if you need a slow that works on every regular bloon.
Early game answers (Round 22 to 26)
Round 22 is 16 Whites and nothing else. Any non-ice opening handles it. If you went Ice Monkey early for the Round 20 Blacks, place a Dart or Tack Shooter beside it before Round 22.
Round 23 (7 Blacks and 7 Whites) is the classic split: Bomb Shooters pop the Whites but not the Blacks, while Ice Monkeys pop the Blacks but not the Whites. Sharp towers pop both. Each popped White becomes two Pinks, so follow up with enough pierce.
Mid game: Rounds 31 to 41
- Round 32: 15 Blacks, 20 Whites and 10 Purples. Three different immunities in one round. Sharp damage covers all three.
- Round 35: 35 Pinks, 30 Blacks, 25 Whites and 5 Rainbows.
- Round 37: 25 Blacks, 25 Whites, 7 Camo Whites, 10 Zebras and 15 Leads. You need camo detection and something that is neither ice nor sharp-only.
- Rounds 26 to 44: every Zebra releases a White and a Black. Round 41 (60 Zebras) and Round 44 (50 Zebras) produce over a hundred Whites between them.
Late game: Round 70
Round 70 sends 120 Camo Regrow Whites, 200 Rainbows and 4 MOABs. It combines three problems: camo, regrow and ice immunity. Good answers:
- A Monkey Village 0-2-0 Radar Scanner for camo, or 0-3-0 MIB for camo-free normal damage in its range. Note MIB does not grant camo detection on its own.
- A Village 0-1-0 Grow Blocker or Ezili from level 9 (her curse strips Camo, Regrow and Fortified from non-MOAB bloons) to stop the regrowth.
- High-pierce area damage such as Tack Shooter 4-0-0 Ring of Fire, which pops Whites and their Pink children quickly.
Hero picks
- Ezili: camo detection from level 1, and from level 9 her curse strips Camo and Regrow, which suits Round 70.
- Gwendolin: fire damage pops Whites and Blacks alike, and her flames hit groups.
- Silas: best when your defense is ice-heavy, because he removes the White immunity problem at levels 5 and 13.
Knowledge and powers
- Glue Trap slows the first 300 bloons that touch it by 50%, Whites included.
- Camo Trap strips camo from up to 500 Camo bloons, which helps on Round 37 and Round 70.
Monkey Knowledge and Powers are disabled in CHIMPS.
Mode notes
- CHIMPS and Impoppable: with one life, a single White slipping past an ice-only defense on Round 22 ends the run.
- Alternate Bloons Rounds: Round 31 has 8 Camo Whites and Round 39 has 10 Camo Regrow Whites, so camo detection must handle Whites well before Round 70.
- Freeplay: after Round 80, Zebras no longer release Whites, so Whites become much rarer.
Common mistakes
- Building an ice-only opening and leaking all 16 Whites on Round 22.
- Relying on freezing to slow a wave that contains Whites or Zebras.
- Assuming the Monkey Intelligence Bureau gives camo detection. It removes immunities but not camo.
- Forgetting that Zebras contain Whites, so the White problem returns on Zebra rounds.
Frequently asked questions
What can pop White Bloons in BTD6?
Anything except freezing attacks. Darts, tacks, bombs, fire, magic, plasma and acid all pop Whites.
Why can't my Ice Monkey pop White Bloons?
White Bloons are immune to Cold, Glacier and Frigid damage. Add a non-ice tower, a 0-3-0 Monkey Intelligence Bureau, or Silas at level 5 or higher.
What round do White Bloons appear in BTD6?
Round 22, which sends 16 Whites. In Alternate Bloons Rounds the first White arrives on Round 14.
What is inside a White Bloon?
Two Pink Bloons, for an RBE of 11. After Round 80 it releases only one Pink.
Can Bomb Shooters pop White Bloons?
Yes. Whites are only immune to freezing, so explosions work. It is the Black Bloon that is immune to bombs.
