Crossbow Reach

Crossbow Reach is a second-row Primary knowledge that gives Crossbow, Sharp Shooter and Crossbow Master +3 range. It requires Extra Dart Pops, costs one Knowledge Point, and unlocks both 4 And 4 and Force vs Force.

How it changes the game

The bottom-path Dart Monkey already has a long reach from the Crossbow upgrade onward, so three extra units is a small percentage. In practice it helps in a few specific ways:

• Tight placements: on maps where the only good spot is just outside the track you want to cover, the extra range can decide whether a Crossbow reaches a key corner.
• Crossbow Master: a wider circle means more of the track is covered by its very fast shots, which slightly increases total uptime.
• Sharp Shooter crits: more range means more targets reach it, so it spends less time idle on spaced rounds.

What it does not affect: Dart Monkeys below tier 3 on the bottom path, the top and middle paths (Spike-o-pult, Juggernaut, Triple Shot, the Fan Clubs) and the Apex Plasma Master Paragon. It does not change pierce, damage or attack speed.

It also pairs well with range support. A Monkey Village's range bonus, a Crossbow placed on high ground or a hero's range buff all stack with Crossbow Reach, so a well-supported Crossbow Master can cover a very large share of a map. On open maps this rarely matters, but on maps with line-of-sight blockers and awkward water, a few units can open new spots.

Is it worth it?

Priority: good, as a gateway. You will not notice Crossbow Reach in most games. The reason it is on every account is the path it opens. Below it sit 4 And 4, then Master Double Cross, Come On Everybody!, Bonus Monkey! and finally More Cash. That is the most valuable column in the Primary tree.

If you are planning your first ten Primary points, a typical route is Extra Dart Pops, Crossbow Reach, then a few cheap nodes from other branches to reach the 5-point requirement for 4 And 4.

The second child, Force vs Force, is a smaller buff for Juggernaut builds, so for most players the 4 And 4 side is the reason to come here.

Where it works

Crossbow Reach is active wherever Monkey Knowledge is enabled: Standard games, Impoppable, Primary Only, Races and Boss Events. It is off in CHIMPS and in challenges that disable knowledge in their rules. If a placement only works thanks to those 3 units, it will fail in CHIMPS, so test it with knowledge toggled off.
