Sun Avatar

Sun Avatar replaces the plasma shot with a fan of three sun blasts spread across a 30 degree cone. Each blast gets +4 pierce (6 total without middle path upgrades) and travels twice as fast. Tripling the projectile count makes it a big jump over Plasma Blasts and the first Super Monkey upgrade that can carry a whole lane on its own.

When to buy it

Sun Avatar is the most expensive tier 3 in the game, so plan the purchase. Save for it once your early defense is stable, ideally after placing a Monkey Village with Monkey Commerce nearby; two or three stacked discounts take a big bite out of the price.

Pick your crosspath by job:

• 3-0-1 adds Knockback, which slows ceramics and MOABs for every tower behind it. This is the common mid-game pick.
• 3-2-0 maximizes range, pierce and projectile speed for pure damage, which suits a heavily buffed late-game Avatar.
• Camo can come from Ultravision (3-0-2) or from a Village with Radar Scanner, a Monkey Intelligence Bureau, or other detection.

It also loves support: a 4-2-0 Alchemist, Monkey Village range and discounts, and Geraldo's Jar of Pickles if you use him.

Is it worth it?

Yes. Sun Avatar is a strong save-up tower in CHIMPS and in most mid-game situations, and it scales well with buffs. Its weakness is single-target damage against fortified ceramics and late MOAB-class bloons, so pair it with a dedicated MOAB killer.
