Dark Knight

Dark Knight swaps darts for dark blades. Each blade gets +2 damage against MOAB-class bloons, pierce goes from 1 to 4 and the hitbox doubles in size. The knockback becomes much stronger on Ceramic and Lead Bloons, slowing them to 10% speed instead of 40%. It also unlocks Darkshift, an ability that teleports the tower anywhere within its range.

When to buy it

Dark Knight fits the mid game, around the first heavy MOAB and ceramic rounds, when you want a tower that shreds blimps and holds back ceramics. Discount it with Monkey Commerce if you can, since $5,600 is a lot for a tier 3.

• 2-0-3 is the usual pick: Plasma Blasts' attack speed means more damage in the mid game and lets it hurt late lead-armored bloons.
• 0-2-3 trades damage for range, so it slows more ceramics and MOABs and teleports further. It pairs well with Geraldo's Sharpening Stone.

Darkshift is handy on maps with alternating lanes, but moving away from Villages or Alchemists loses their buffs.

Is it worth it?

Good in the mid game, weaker later. Its low pierce makes it poor against dense bloon rushes, and after round 80 it mostly works as knockback support. Buy it if you plan to reach Dark Champion.
