BTD6 Update 50: Silas, Lost Crevasse and Powers Pro

Official artwork for BTD6 Update 50, the update that adds Silas the Ice Shaper, the Lost Crevasse map and the Powers Pro system

Bloons TD 6 version 50.0 came out on 27 August 2025 on Steam and mobile, with the Epic Games Store build following on 29 August. It was the fourth major update of 2025, after 47.0 in February, 48.0 in April and 49.0 in June, and it is built around one theme: ice.

The headline addition is Silas, the Ice Shaper, a support hero who freezes Bloons and turns every Ice Monkey on the map into part of his kit. The second is a new Intermediate map, Lost Crevasse, where Bloons move slower but three lanes run at once. The third is Powers Pro, a new tier of placeable Powers that you upgrade with in-game cash, starting with Super Monkey Beacon and Banana Farmer Pro. On top of that, the old Cave Monkey became a regular Power, and the balance pass hit the Desperado on all three paths.

Quick take: Update 50 is a support-and-economy update. Silas makes Ice Monkey builds a real plan instead of a side option, Powers Pro gives your Powers a cash sink and an upgrade tree, and the Desperado got buffs on every path. If you only try one thing, try Silas with two or three Ice Monkeys on Lost Crevasse.

Silas, the Ice Shaper: the new hero

Portrait of Silas, the Ice Shaper, the ice hero added to BTD6 in version 50.0
Silas, the Ice Shaper

Silas is a crowd-control support hero, and Ninja Kiwi built him around one idea: he supports Ice Monkeys and Ice Monkeys support him. He can be placed on land or water, sees Camo from level 1, freezes nearby water, and slows every Bloon inside his large aura by 15%.

He costs $850 on Medium ($725 Easy, $920 Hard, $1,020 Impoppable). With the Hero Favors knowledge that drops to $765 on Medium. To use him you first unlock him for 5,000 Monkey Money, which becomes possible at player level 25.

How his attack works

Silas’s basic attack deals no direct damage. Instead it works in three steps:

  • The first hit rimes a Bloon, slowing regular Bloons by 50% and MOAB-class Bloons by 5%.
  • Hitting a rimed Bloon freezes 3 layers for 2.5 seconds.
  • Hitting a Bloon that is already frozen triggers a small rime explosion (1 Cold damage, 3 pierce at level 1).

At level 1 the attack has 10 pierce, a 1.4-second cooldown and 55 range. That is slow, and it is why Silas is weak in the first rounds. His value comes from what his levels add to the rest of your defence.

Level-up highlights

LevelWhat it adds
2Nearby Ice Monkeys create orbiting Ice Fragments when they attack
3Unlocks Frostbite
4Ice Walls appear on the track and freeze Bloons that touch them (MOABs are frozen for less time)
5Other towers’ freezes last longer; ice attacks bypass White and Zebra freeze immunity 50% of the time
6Silas can attack Bloons in range of any Ice Monkey
7Unlocks Frozen Cascade
8All Ice Monkeys gain range; Silas earns more XP for each tier 3+ Ice Monkey
10Unlocks Frozen Burial
11Aura slows regular Bloons by 20% and now slows MOAB-class Bloons by 10%
13Tier 5 Ice Monkeys are cheaper, you can place a 4th tier 5 Ice Monkey, and White Bloons lose their ice resistance
15Frozen Bloons take more ability damage; Frostbite lasts longer; Frozen Cascade and Frozen Burial cooldowns drop
16–20Bigger rime explosions, more and stronger Ice Fragments, longer-lasting Ice Walls that spawn more often

Level 13 is the one to plan around. The tier 5 discount and the extra tier 5 slot only apply to Ice Monkeys, so it pays to hold your Absolute Zero or other tier 5 Ice Monkey purchase until Silas gets there.

Silas’s abilities

AbilityUnlocksCooldownWhat it does
FrostbiteLevel 330sFor 8 seconds (12 at level 15) Silas can hit any Bloon type, and his attacks detonate freezes. Frozen Bloons take bonus damage for every second of freeze time left: 10 per second at base, 15 at level 9, 25 at level 15, 50 at level 20.
Frozen CascadeLevel 760s (45s at level 15)A chain of icy explosions around Silas and the closest Ice Monkeys. Each blast has 40 radius, 45 pierce, deals 12 damage, freezes for 9 seconds and deals extra damage to Bloons that are already frozen. It does not freeze MOABs.
Frozen BurialLevel 1090s (75s at level 15)Freezes every Bloon on the map, with a big bonus against Bloons that were already frozen (+40, rising to +120 at level 15), then fills the track with slowing Ice Walls.

How to use Silas

  • Place him at the edge of his range over the track, close enough that his slow aura still covers a stretch of path.
  • Build two or three Ice Monkeys near him. Ice Fragments, extra range and Frozen Cascade all scale with how many Ice Monkeys you have.
  • Save Frozen Burial for dense rounds and DDT rounds. It works like a stronger, longer-cooldown version of the Absolute Zero ability.
  • Use Frozen Cascade as a leak cleaner. On its own it does little damage unless many Ice Monkeys surround Silas.
  • Do not build an all-ice defence. Silas brings almost no single-target damage, and his abilities do little to a BAD. Pair him with a real MOAB answer such as Carpet of Spikes, First Strike Capability or MOAB Eliminator.

Silas also counts as a Support hero for the Heroic Specialty artifact in Rogue Legends, and he ignores the freezing gimmick on Glacial Trail.

Lost Crevasse: the new Intermediate map

Lost Crevasse, an icy underground BTD6 map with three Bloon lanes, ice crystals and a lake on the right
Lost Crevasse (Intermediate)

Lost Crevasse is a frozen underground fissure on the Intermediate difficulty. Bloons move slower than normal here, but the map is still considered one of the harder Intermediate maps.

  • Lanes: 2 entrances and 2 exits feed three paths that are all active at once, and new Bloons alternate between them. The center path is the longest, and Boss Bloons always take it.
  • Water: a lake on the right side takes water towers.
  • Land: a large landmass fills the top half and is wrapped by the track. The left side has more land than the right.
  • Line of sight: a column of ice crystals splits the lower half and blocks line of sight. Crystals also block placement in some spots.
  • Walls: the walls along the path edges absorb projectiles, which suits bouncing projectiles and zone damage.

The short lanes and split paths make leaks common, so do not rely on First targeting alone. The central region covers most of the map. Sauda works well on the chokepoint and multi-lane damage, Super Glue stalls Bloons in the short effective zone, and a Sniper Monkey placed right of the crystal above the column can see both sides.

Patch 50.1 fixed spots where towers could be placed where they should not be and removed duplicate Pre-game Prep spikes on all lanes.

Powers Pro: how the new system works

Super Monkey Beacon, the first Power Pro in BTD6, a placeable beacon that calls down a Super Monkey Storm
Super Monkey Beacon, one of the first two Powers Pro

Powers Pro are upgraded versions of existing Powers. They are completely separate items: buying a Pro does not replace the normal Power, and you can still use both. Ninja Kiwi started with two of the most used Powers, Super Monkey Storm and Banana Farmer, and said more Pro versions would follow.

Unlocking and buying a Power Pro

  • Unlock with Power XP. Each Pro unlocks once you have earned enough XP for that Power: 10,000 XP for Banana Farmer Pro and 12,500 XP for Super Monkey Beacon. Buying a Power earns XP equal to 8 times its Monkey Money price, and using one earns 2 times its price.
  • Later tiers need more XP. Tier 2 upgrades need 50,000 XP (Banana Farmer Pro) or 70,000 XP (Super Monkey Beacon); tier 3 needs 150,000 or 200,000.
  • Pros earn double XP when you buy or use them, so unlocking the higher tiers is faster once you own the Pro.
  • Price: 100 Monkey Money for Banana Farmer Pro, 400 for Super Monkey Beacon.
  • If you receive a Pro another way, for example as an Odyssey reward, you still cannot use it until it is unlocked.

Upgrading in a game

Once placed, a Power Pro works like a small tower. You spend in-game cash on one of three paths, each with three tiers. There is no crosspathing: pick one path per Pro. Powers Pro also count toward the tower limit in the Challenge Editor. Patch 50.1 added tooltips in the Powers menu that explain how to unlock them.

Super Monkey Beacon

The Beacon is the Pro version of Super Monkey Storm. You place it between rounds, and it gives you a Beacon Storm ability that hits every Bloon on screen for 2,000 damage (half of a normal Storm). The key difference: it is free to use on cooldown, as many times as you want. At launch the base cooldown was 180 seconds; update 51.0 later cut it to 120 seconds.

PathTier 1Tier 2Tier 3
Top (charges)Charged Beacon ($1,200): stores up to 5 charges, refill 4 charges for Monkey MoneyStorm Tremors ($1,300): a second 1,000-damage storm 2 seconds laterReverberation ($3,000): a third storm 3 seconds later; second and third storms hit harder
Middle (cooldown)Mini Stormcaller ($1,500): 60s cooldown, 850 damageRapid Recharge ($1,200): 45s cooldownBeacon of Legends ($3,500): permanent Super Monkey turret plus a free Super Monkey every 10 rounds
Bottom (damage)High Impact ($1,300): 3,000 damageBewildering Storm ($1,400): stuns surviving MOAB-class Bloons for 10 secondsPiercing Wind ($5,000): damage and stun go through every layer, and damage grows with every activation

The bottom path is the long-game pick: Piercing Wind gets stronger the more you use it in one game. The middle path suits players who want a steady Super Monkey presence, since Beacon of Legends hands out a free Super Monkey every 10 rounds.

Banana Farmer Pro

Banana Farmer Pro, the Power Pro version of the Banana Farmer that collects bananas and boosts Banana Farms
Banana Farmer Pro

The base Banana Farmer Pro has 75 range, 25% more than a normal Banana Farmer, and pulls bananas in faster. It is not affected by the Fit Farmers knowledge. Prices below are for Medium.

PathTier 1Tier 2Tier 3
Top (collection)Banana Vacuum ($200): more range and collection speedBanana Peels ($600): collected bananas sometimes leave peels that blow Bloons back and remove RegrowRobo Farmer ($2,000): collects bananas from anywhere on the map
Middle (farm production)Camo Bananas ($900): spots hidden Camo Bananas for extra cashRegrow Bananas ($1,200): target a Banana Farm so it sometimes makes Regrow BananasBanana Intelligence Bureau ($5,000): farms in radius make Regrow and Camo Bananas; the targeted farm always makes Regrow
Bottom (economy)Adaptive Workers ($650): stacking sell-value bonus for Banana Farms in radiusMonkey Banker ($800): more Monkey Bank income in radius and collects full BanksBanana Financier ($3,000): more debt, but automatically deposits cash into empty Monkey Banks

If you farm with Banana Farms already, the middle path is the straightforward cash upgrade. The bottom path is built for Monkey Bank setups: Banana Financier works best when you leave your Banks alone and let it deposit for you.

Quick take: Powers Pro cost more Monkey Money up front, but the Beacon can be reused for free all game. A normal Super Monkey Storm is gone after one use; the Beacon stays on the map and fires again every cooldown.

Cave Monkey becomes a regular Power

Cave Monkey, the club-wielding monkey Power in BTD6, unlocked through a secret achievement
Cave Monkey

The Cave Monkey used to be a one-off tower found only on Frozen Over. In 50.0 it became a normal Power that costs 150 Monkey Money. It bats Bloons with a club, damaging and stunning them, but it cannot see Camo on its own. Before it shows up in the Powers menu, you need to earn the secret achievement “They call me Cave Monkey!”. Ninja Kiwi’s notes teased it as the “Monkeysicle” emerging from the frozen depths.

Balance changes in v50.0

The balance pass was large. The Desperado got the most attention, Ice Monkey’s Absolute Zero was toned down to make room for Silas, and three paragons got their opening abilities pushed back.

Dart Monkey

UpgradeChangeType
Crossbow (0-0-3) and Sharp Shooter (0-0-4)Pierce 3 → 4Buff

2-0-4 Sharp Shooter gains a full third more pierce, which makes it a better mid-game crosspath. New accounts also get the tier 1 Dart upgrades unlocked from the start.

Ninja Kiwi tied this nerf directly to Silas, who adds a lot of Ice Monkey synergy. In Silas games, level 13 makes tier 5 Ice Monkeys cheaper, which offsets part of the hit.

Every path got cheaper or stronger, except a slower Enforcer shotgun. Bounty Hunter is $1,500 cheaper and Golden Justice marks Bloons three times as often, which makes the middle path much easier to reach and more rewarding once you get there.

Mega Massive Munitions FactoryStart cooldowns: Controlled Burst 3.33s → 10s; Spikeageddon 25s → 75sNerf

Ninja Kiwi’s goal was to move paragon damage out of the mini spike storms and reduce how much expiring spikes matter when a Boss spawns. Their notes also list a main spike MOAB bonus increase from 140 to 240, but that bonus had no in-game effect because of a bug.

Engineer Monkey and Beast Handler

Churchill’s stacking bonuses add up to +12 damage against a Fortified DDT. Adora’s change reverses the 49.0 Blood Sacrifice nerf, which Ninja Kiwi said had hurt her freeplay value too much.

Four new Trophy Store cosmetics arrived: the Wizard Sheepie pet, the Ancient ZOMG skin, the Super Duper Monkey avatar and the Dream Sheep banner.

Rogue Legends artifacts

  • Bargaining Chip: in-game boost reroll costs are 20/30/50% lower, and Merchants pay 2/2/3 times the listed value for it.
  • Power Nexus: Powers count as Support towers, attack 10/15/25% faster and deal 50/100/200% more damage.

Menus and quality of life

  • A new Mailbox next to your profile collects event rewards, support gifts, update notes and community messages.
  • Redesigned Powers menu and new screens for rewards and in-game purchases.
  • The upgrade description box is wider.
  • Contested Territory relics can be viewed from the pause menu.
  • Ranked event leaderboards show an “End of Leaderboard” label.
  • Game Center achievements were added for Bloons TD 6+.

Notable bug fixes

  • Deadeye and later Desperado upgrades no longer ignore Boss immunity windows or miss targets next to walls.
  • Nomad’s passive ability cooldown can now be affected by attack speed buffs.
  • Energizer no longer speeds up Ice Monkey cooldowns by 50% unless the Sub is placed in water.
  • Engineer 4-2-0 sentry MOAB damage crosspath now works, and the Engineer paragon can no longer be Overclocked by another Engineer.

  • Co-op network messages were optimized.

Patches after v50.0

Version 50.1 (2 September 2025)

A bug-fix patch focused on the new content:

  • Silas now gains the extra XP from tier 3 Ice Monkeys as intended, and other co-op players can again create tier 5 Ice Monkeys while Silas is level 13+.
  • Towers no longer sometimes stop attacking near a Monkey Intelligence Bureau.
  • Lost Crevasse placement bugs fixed and duplicate Pre-game Prep spikes removed.
  • Powers menu tooltips explain how to unlock Powers Pro, and Odyssey now tracks Power Pro stats.
  • Deadeye’s Boss immunity bug was partly fixed, and Monkey Banks no longer glow when full without EZ Collect.
  • Crash fixes for Geraldo’s bunnies and the Apple Arcade version, plus several UI fixes.

Version 50.2 (10 September 2025)

The second patch included a few Silas fixes that changed his numbers:

UpgradeChangeType
Silas level 8+ Frozen CascadeExplosion radius no longer reduced: 25 → 40Fix
Silas levels 16–18 Ice FragmentsPierce 24 → 18 (level 19+ stays at 24)Fix
Silas level 6+ Vision of IceNow ignores line-of-sight blockersFix
Silas Arctic Wind (levels 12, 18, 19)No longer applies a permanent slow when Silas levels upFix
Silas Frozen Cascade cooldown reductionMoved to level 15 as intendedFix
Banana Farmer Pro Camo Bananas (Half Cash)Value $80 → $40Fix
Super Monkey Beacon Charged BeaconCharges can no longer be restored for free in co-opFix

It also fixed Advanced Intel losing range against MOAB-class Bloons, a Mailbox crash without internet, and several UI issues. A Windows-only build followed on 19 September to fix Unity 6 crashes, and a re-upload on 3 October patched a Unity security flaw.

What Update 50 means for your games

  • Try Silas with a small Ice Monkey core. Two or three Ice Monkeys turn on Ice Fragments, Frozen Cascade and the level 8 range buff. Wait for level 13 before buying a tier 5 Ice Monkey.
  • Absolute Zero is weaker on its own. The 25-second cooldown, 5-second start delay and shorter global freeze hurt it outside Silas games.
  • Revisit the Desperado. The cheaper Bounty Hunter, faster Golden Justice marks and a 50-damage Desert Phantom pistol make every path worth testing again.
  • Unlock Super Monkey Beacon if you use Storms. It hits for half of a Storm, but you can fire it again every cooldown for the rest of the game.
  • Top-path Druid has a late-game job. Monarch of Storms tornadoes last three times longer and can now hit BADs.
  • Expect Super Ceramics earlier in Rogue Legends, from round 31 instead of 81.

Quick take: Silas plus Ice Monkeys for control, Desperado for damage and a Super Monkey Beacon for emergencies is an easy way to test most of the update in one game.

BTD6 Update 50 FAQ

When did BTD6 Update 50 come out?

Version 50.0 released on 27 August 2025 on Steam and the App Store, and on 29 August 2025 on the Epic Games Store. Patch 50.1 followed on 2 September and 50.2 on 10 September.

What is new in BTD6 Update 50?

The new hero Silas, the Intermediate map Lost Crevasse, the Powers Pro system with Super Monkey Beacon and Banana Farmer Pro, Cave Monkey as a regular Power, three new quests, four Trophy Store cosmetics, a Mailbox, and a large balance pass led by Desperado buffs and an Absolute Zero nerf.

How do I unlock Silas, and how much does he cost?

Silas unlocks for 5,000 Monkey Money once you reach player level 25. In a game he costs $850 on Medium ($725 Easy, $920 Hard, $1,020 Impoppable).

How do I unlock Powers Pro?

Earn XP for the base Power by buying and using it. Banana Farmer Pro unlocks at 10,000 XP and Super Monkey Beacon at 12,500 XP. You then buy the Pro for 100 or 400 Monkey Money and upgrade it in-game with cash.

Is Silas good?

He is a support hero, not a damage carry. He is slow in the early rounds but strong in the mid and late game with Ice Monkeys, and Frozen Burial is a strong tool for dense and DDT rounds. He needs a separate answer for BADs.

What was the next BTD6 update after 50?

Version 51.0 released on 14 October 2025. It added the Ballistic Obliteration Missile Bunker, a Bomb Shooter Paragon, the map Three Mines ‘Round, and a Skeletor skin for Obyn Greenfoot.
