How to use Ballistic Missile
Ballistic Missile adds a second attack. Whenever Bloons pass through the Sub's range (or the range of other towers with Advanced Intel), it fires a seeking missile upward that lands on the target, ignoring line-of-sight blockers. Each missile deals 3 damage with bonus damage to Ceramics and MOAB-class Bloons, hits up to 40 Bloons and fires every second. The upgrade also adds 8 range.
When to buy it
Ballistic Missile is a good early to mid-game tower against clumped Bloons thanks to its high pierce and damage. It is an explosion, so it cannot damage Black or Zebra Bloons. Never make it your only damage source.
- 2-3-0 when the Sub needs Advanced Intel to reach every lane.
- 0-3-1 or 0-3-2 when its own range already covers part of every lane. Twin Guns speeds up the missiles a little; Airburst Darts adds a strong dart attack but does not improve the missiles.
Ballistic Missile spam under a Sub Commander can work in CHIMPS, especially on compact maps where all lanes cross, but other strategies have overtaken it.
Is it worth it?
Yes as a mid-game damage tower and as the step to First Strike Capability. Cover Blacks and Zebras with another tower.
Frequently asked questions
Can Ballistic Missile pop Black Bloons?
No. The missile is an explosion, so Black and Zebra Bloons are immune to it. The darts can still hit them.
Does Ballistic Missile need line of sight?
No. The missiles are fired upward and land on their target, ignoring obstacles.
How much does Ballistic Missile cost?
$1,350 on Medium. The page header lists every difficulty.
