Monkey Pirates

Monkey Pirates fires three cannonballs per attack instead of one. Bombs deal 3 damage instead of 2 with +5 against MOAB-class Bloons, and grapes deal 4 damage instead of 3 with +2 against Ceramics.

It also unlocks MOAB Takedown: the boat hooks and instantly destroys one MOAB, BFB or visible DDT, choosing the strongest. The ability has a 45 second cooldown (40 with the Faster Takedowns Monkey Knowledge) and cannot be used without a valid target on screen.

When to buy it

Monkey Pirates is a solid early to mid-game tier 4. It breaks clumps well, and the hook covers its weak single-target damage when a blimp gets through. Place it so it can attack from both sides. It saves up smoothly into Pirate Lord, which makes it a good path in CHIMPS.

Buffs help a lot because grapes and frags have low pierce: Berserker Brew and Stronger Stimulant pair well. For Monkey Pirates spam, add a Permanent Brew and Admiral Brickell.

Crosspaths:

• 1-4-0 or 2-4-0 for the most damage per second.
• 0-4-1 for pierce-heavy modes like Races.
• 0-4-2 when you need it to see camos, including hooking DDTs without outside camo support.

Is it worth it?

Yes. The hook alone saves runs, and it is the natural step to Pirate Lord.
