Destroyer

Destroyer cuts the cooldown of the Buccaneer's darts, and of its grapes if it has Grape Shot, by 80%. That means five times the attack speed: darts every 0.15 seconds and grapes about every 0.2 seconds without other buffs.

When to buy it

Destroyer is a strong, flexible mid-game tower. A few of them can hold the mid-game on nearly any map with water. Place each one where track runs along both sides of it, so both guns fire at once.

Crosspaths:

• 3-1-0 for most Destroyers. Grape Shot's extra projectiles are essential.
• 3-2-0 for one of them. A single Hot Shot boat handles mid-game Lead Bloons and spreads its burn; you do not need more than one.
• The bottom path crosspath is weaker. External Camo detection with grapes is more efficient.

Destroyer has 1 base pierce, so buffs make a huge difference. A 3-2-0 Berserker Brew boosts both its pierce and damage, and Admiral Brickell is key for Destroyer strategies: her Naval Tactics and her pierce bonus at level 8 push them much further. After round 80, Destroyer spam with Permanent Brew is an excellent strategy for CHIMPS and Least Cash boss runs.

Is it worth it?

Yes. It is one of the best value tier 3s in the game when your map has water and you can buff it.
