How to use Double Shot
Double Shot makes each of the Buccaneer's cannons fire two darts side by side instead of one. With Grape Shot it also adds one extra grape to every volley. Cannon Ship and its upgrades replace the dart attack, so on those it only adds the extra grape.
When to buy it
A 2-0-0 Buccaneer on its own is not efficient; a basic Buccaneer costs less for similar damage. Double Shot is a crosspath and a step on the way to Destroyer.
Where it helps:
- 2-1-0 and 2-2-0 Grape Shot and Hot Shot boats, where both the darts and grapes benefit.
- 2-5-0 Pirate Lord, where the extra grape on a much stronger grape attack is worth the price. Together with Faster Shooting it is the standard Pirate Lord crosspath.
- 2-3-0 Cannon Ship and 2-4-0 Monkey Pirates gain little, because they lose their darts and only get one more grape. Stop at Faster Shooting there.
In Races, Long Range is the better crosspath.
Is it worth it?
Yes as the step to Destroyer and as part of the 2-5-0 Pirate Lord. Otherwise it is optional.
