How to use Arcane Blast
Arcane Blast raises the damage of each magic bolt from 1 to 2 and makes the bolts 50% larger. With Fireball, the fireball explosions also deal 1 more damage.
When to buy it
Arcane Blast is a weak upgrade on its own. The bolts have low pierce, so +1 damage does not add much unless you also have Intense Magic for more pierce. Its main reason to exist is unlocking Arcane Mastery, the strong tier 3.
As a crosspath, it adds little beyond what Guided Magic already gives:
- 2-x-0 middle path: slightly stronger fireballs and bolts, at the cost of the extra pierce a bottom-path crosspath would give.
- 2-0-4 or 2-0-5: more bolt damage on Necromancer and Prince of Darkness, though 0-2-4 and 0-2-5 are usually preferred.
Is it worth it?
Only as the step toward Arcane Mastery. If you are not going top path, a bottom-path or middle-path crosspath gives more value.
