How to use Spiked Mines
Spiked Mines upgrades the balls into mines with 18 pierce and 2 damage, plus +6 Ceramic and +3 Fortified damage. When a mine runs out of pierce or expires, it explodes in a 30-unit radius (40 with Long Reach), hitting up to 30 Bloons for 10 explosion damage with extra Ceramic and Fortified damage. The blast also sets non-Purple Bloons on fire for a short burn.
When to buy it
This is the mid-game workhorse of the top path. The explosions make it good against Ceramic rushes in the 60s and 70s, and the high per-hit damage skips layers.
- It scales well with Berserker Brew and Jungle Drums.
- Slowing towers such as Arctic Wind help clump Ceramics for bigger explosions.
- 4-2-0 is the default for one lane; 4-0-2 helps on maps with several exits.
Late game, the small explosion radius struggles against spread-out Super Ceramics, so plan your next step.
Is it worth it?
Yes as a mid-game tower and as the road to Super Mines. In CHIMPS it is a solid cleanup option until the 80s, but needs help against Super Ceramics after that.
