How to use Smart Spikes
Smart Spikes gives the factory a buff at the start of each round that quadruples its attack speed for 3 seconds, so it quickly lays down a fresh batch of spikes. It also adds four targeting options besides the default random placement:
- Close: drops spikes on the nearest part of the track.
- Smart: focuses the lane whose Bloons are closest to the exit.
- Set Target: drops spikes at a point you choose, even off the track.
- Automatic: targets the leading Bloon in range, or the front of the track if nothing is there.
On Spike Storm and Carpet of Spikes, storm spikes only go to lanes that currently have Bloons, and a storm triggered during the speed buff drops more spikes.
When to buy it
- 1-0-2 is a cheap leak catcher near the exit.
- 0-3-2 MOAB SHREDR uses Set Target off the track to hit only blimps.
- 0-5-2 Carpet of Spikes uses it on maps with alternating lanes.
- In Boss Rush, MOAB SHREDR and Super Mines prefer this crosspath because the speed boost repeats often.
Is it worth it?
Yes. It is one of the most useful cheap crosspaths on the tower and the start of the strong bottom path.
