How to use Arctic Wind
Arctic Wind gives the Ice Monkey a slowing aura with a 25 radius: every bloon it can target inside the aura moves 40% slower, though MOAB-class bloons are not affected. The main attack also loses its penalty against ceramics. Most importantly, nearby water freezes into ice platforms where land towers can be placed. The slow aura grows with range buffs, but the water platform only grows with Larger Radius.
When to buy it
The water placement is the big draw. It lets you put land towers in strong spots on water maps, for example placing Sun Temples or True Sun Gods on water so they can be buffed by a Carrier Flagship or Admiral Brickell. On Flooded Valley it is the only way in CHIMPS to put land towers in good positions.
When you do not need the ice, it can still stall super ceramics, but its small range limits it.
- 0-3-1 or 0-3-2 enlarge the ice platform and the aura.
- 2-3-0 lets the aura and attack affect lead and camo bloons.
- 1-3-0 adds permafrost for a stronger stall.
Is it worth it?
Yes, when you need land on water. As a pure staller, Snowstorm and Absolute Zero do more.
Frequently asked questions
Can I place land towers on water with Arctic Wind?
Yes. It freezes nearby water into ice that land towers can use. Larger Radius makes the frozen area bigger.
Does Arctic Wind slow MOABs?
No. Absolute Zero is the first tier that slows MOAB-class bloons with the aura.
How much does Arctic Wind cost?
$2,750 on Medium. All difficulty prices are shown on this page.
