How to use Permafrost
Permafrost gives the Ice Monkey a lasting slow. After a frozen bloon thaws, it keeps moving 50% slower (60% with the So Cold Monkey Knowledge). The slow carries over two layers, though since the Ice Monkey usually pops one layer, the second layer only benefits if the first had extra health.
It also changes the other paths:
- Deep Freeze extends the slow to 3 layers.
- Snowstorm's ability gains permafrost, though not on MOAB-class bloons.
- Absolute Zero extends it to 8 layers and slows MOAB-class bloons by 25%.
When to buy it
Permafrost is cheap and very useful for stalling. A 1-1-0 or 1-2-0 Ice Monkey slows super ceramics and buys time for abilities to recharge. The permanent 50% slow is also great for catching Golden Bloons.
As a crosspath, 1-x-0 is the stalling choice for Arctic Wind, Snowstorm and Absolute Zero builds.
Is it worth it?
Yes. For $150 it adds real stalling power, and it is the gateway to Cold Snap.
