Blade Maelstrom

Blade Maelstrom makes the normal blades deal 2 damage and adds an activated ability. For 3 seconds the Tack Shooter sprays blades in two opposite directions every 0.045 seconds while rotating, creating a spiral. Each ability blade deals 2 damage with 100 pierce, ignores obstacles and flies across the map. The normal attack keeps working during the ability. The cooldown is 20 seconds, and it is first ready about 7 seconds after the upgrade.

When to buy it

Blade Maelstrom is one of the strongest towers in Races, because its ability wipes out huge numbers of bloons and makes a lot of cash early. A common pattern is to send rounds as fast as possible after buying it, place an Alchemist next to it and upgrade toward Berserker Brew right after using the ability, so the next spin pops lead and hits harder. It is also great against Bloonarius spawns.

• 0-4-2 extends the ability by 1 second.

Ability blades cannot pop lead or camo without help.

Is it worth it?

In Races, absolutely. In normal games it is a burst tool that needs lead and camo support and other towers between uses, so it is less reliable.
