Super Maelstrom

Super Maelstrom upgrades the ability and the main attack. The ability now lasts 9 seconds instead of 3, fires 4 blades at a time instead of 2, and each blade has 300 pierce and +8 damage to ceramics. The normal blades deal 5 damage (+5 to ceramics) and switch to the normal damage type, so the main attack pops lead. Ability blades are still shatter damage. The cooldown stays at 20 seconds.

If you buy it while Blade Maelstrom's ability is active, the current spin is extended.

When to buy it

With lead and camo support, Super Maelstrom is a win condition in Races. It is also very strong against Bloonarius spawns, especially in timed events.

• 0-5-2 extends the ability to 12 seconds and is the preferred Race build.
• 2-5-0 fires ability blades faster.

Outside those modes it is a below-average damage tower. It falls off on expert maps and struggles against tough blimps, so it is best used as a niche cleanup tool.

Is it worth it?

At $15,000 it is cheap for a tier 5 and outstanding in Races. In normal play, CHIMPS or Boss Events, Inferno Ring or The Tack Zone usually give better constant damage, so buy Super Maelstrom only when its huge bursts against bloon groups are what you need.
