How to use S.P.I.D.E.R. Monkey
S.P.I.D.E.R. Monkey is the Sniper Monkey Paragon, combining Cripple MOAB, Elite Sniper and Elite Defender. It sits on a raised platform that sees the whole map and ignores every line-of-sight blocker, including ones created mid-game. It is a single-target monster: built to delete BADs, ZOMGs and Boss Bloons, not to clean up crowds.
What it does
Main attack. A slow, powerful hitscan bullet that hits Camo Bloons and every Bloon type, with huge bonus damage against MOAB-class and Boss Bloons. At degree 1 it fires every 7.5 seconds. Each bullet then bounces to the nearest Bloon nearby, dealing even more damage to that second target. Both impacts release seeking shrapnel that explodes on contact and stuns surviving Bloons for 3 seconds (not BADs or bosses).
Speed bonuses. Like Elite Defender, it attacks faster the further Bloons get along the track (up to double speed) and gets 4x attack speed for 7 seconds when you lose lives. It also doubles its speed when it keeps shooting the same target for more than two shots.
Damage debuff. Whatever it is targeting takes +5 damage from all sources, which stacks with Cripple MOAB's debuff.
Sniper support. Every other Sniper Monkey gains a "Use S.P.I.D.E.R. Monkey Target" option, letting them shoot the Paragon's target even behind obstacles.
Cash drop. Halfway through each round, a plane drops crates of bananas around the Paragon worth $20,000 in total. Collect them like Banana Farm bananas.
Abilities
Ammo Swap (90 second cooldown, once per round): a stronger version of the Supply Drop ammo crate. For 12 seconds the Paragon and the five closest Snipers with Shrapnel Shot get +3 pierce, double damage, double projectile lifespan and a damage type that pops everything. While active, the Paragon's shrapnel explosions can also stun BADs for a moment.
Single Out (180 second cooldown, up to 3 times per round): the Paragon stops attacking, locks a red beam on the strongest Bloon on screen and charges a shot that pierces through blimp layers. After at least 3 seconds it fires as soon as the damage is enough to destroy the target and all its children, or to reach the next skull of a Boss Bloon, in which case the skull's effect is skipped. It also fires after 15 seconds of charging or if the target gets close to the exit. Losing lives cuts 30 seconds from the cooldown.
How to unlock and build it
You need all three tier 5 Snipers on the map at once: Cripple MOAB (5-x-x), Elite Sniper (x-5-x) and Elite Defender (x-x-5), plus the Paragon unlocked with Sniper Monkey XP. Upgrading one of them absorbs every Sniper on the map.
Its degree, from 1 to 100, depends on:
- Cash spent on the absorbed Snipers and on the Paragon's investment slider.
- Extra tier 5 Snipers sacrificed beyond the three required.
- Total damage and cash produced by the absorbed Snipers.
- Paragon Power Totems absorbed and the Paragon Boost perk.
Higher degrees mean more damage, faster attacks and a stronger Single Out. To push the degree, farm with Supply Drops before upgrading: the cash their crates produce counts toward the damage-and-cash category, and a Monkey City Village raises the value of each crate. 2-4-0 Supply Drops are the usual farming choice; 4-0-2 Maim MOABs are the most expensive Snipers if you want to pump the cash category.
Best uses
- Boss Events: its best role. Huge single-target damage plus Single Out skipping skulls makes it excellent against Vortex (it ignores the shield), Phayze and Dreadbloon, and its map-wide vision ignores Blastapopoulos's rocks. Bloonarius is its weakest matchup because of the many spawns and skulls.
- Late-game support: it deletes BAD and ZOMG layers fast, leaving the children to your cleanup towers.
- Income: as a non-final Paragon, its $20,000 per round helps fund other Paragons faster than almost any other option.
Weaknesses
Used alone it collapses against even simple dense rounds, because it only hits a few targets per shot. Always pair it with real cleanup. Life-loss tricks such as Ezili's Sacrificial Totem or Dan D'Monke's Rabble Rouser trigger its speed burst and shorten Single Out's cooldown.
Is it worth it?
For boss events and late Freeplay blimps, yes, it is one of the strongest single-target Paragons. It is also one of the most expensive, so it only pays off when you have cleanup covered and need a target deleted.
