Sentry Champion

Sentry Champion makes the Engineer deploy Champion Sentries. These fire plasma balls extremely fast, with a 0.06-second cooldown, each hitting up to 5 Bloons (10 with Oversize Nails) for 3 damage, and have 50 range (54 with Larger Service Area). When a Champion Sentry expires it explodes, hitting 50 Bloons (75 with Oversize Nails) for 100 damage. The Engineer's own nailgun also gets slightly faster.

When to buy it

Sentry Champion is weak on its own. Its sentries fire very fast but with low damage and pierce, so it depends on buffs.

The key is that Champion Sentries inherit speed buffs from the Engineer, and those buffs also speed up sentry deployment. Every attack speed buff effectively counts twice. That makes these partners very strong:

• Jungle Drums and Call to Arms, at minimum.
• Homeland Defense, which makes it a serious boss damage dealer.
• Overclock or Ultraboost.
• Damage buffs and blimp debuffs such as Glue Strike.

Use 5-2-0 for MOAB and Fortified damage on sentries. 5-0-2 gets pierce and larger explosions but loses damage, so it is less common.

How it compares

Ultraboost and XXXL Trap are support and income towers, so Sentry Champion is the only damage-focused Engineer tier 5. Against other tier 5s of a similar price, it only keeps up when stacked with Village and Engineer buffs.

Is it worth it?

With heavy support, yes, especially in Boss Events with Homeland Defense. Without buffs, almost any other tier 5 at this price does more. In CHIMPS, Champion Sentries are one of the few things you can still sell, which triggers their explosion on demand.
