Homeland Defense

Homeland Defense upgrades the Call to Arms ability to +100% attack speed and +100% pierce for every tower on the map, lasting 20 seconds (23 with To Arms!) instead of 15. It overrides an active Call to Arms buff, but you cannot activate it again while its own buff is still running. Paragons are not affected.

When to buy it

Homeland Defense is one of the strongest support towers in the game. Doubling both pierce and speed roughly multiplies the output of many towers several times over during the buff.

• Uptime is a bit under 50%. A second Village with Call to Arms can fill most of the gap; full coverage takes three Villages, or two with an Energizer.
• It is essential in Freeplay and very strong in Boss Events, timed for the boss or the hardest wave.
• Sentry Champion, Spike Factories and other towers that scale with speed get the most from it.

Crosspath 2-5-0 for Jungle Drums in range, or 0-5-2 for discounts.

How it compares

• Primary Expertise is cheaper but only helps Primary towers in range.
• Monkeyopolis is an income tier 5.
• Homeland Defense is the only Village tier 5 that boosts every tower class on the whole map, which is why it is the most common pick.

Is it worth it?

Yes, for late-game CHIMPS, Freeplay and Boss Events. In CHIMPS you need to afford it in time to matter, so plan the saveup so it is ready before the hardest late rounds.
