How to use IFR

IFR (instrument flight rules) grants camo detection to every Heli Pilot attack, so its darts, rockets, rotors and the downdraft can all target and affect camo bloons. That is all it does.

When to buy it

In most games, a Monkey Village with Radar Scanner, a Monkey Intelligence Bureau or another decamo tower already handles camo, so IFR is not needed. It becomes important when:

  • You play events or modes that limit support, such as Contested Territory or boss events against Phayze.
  • You use MOAB Shove to slow DDTs. A 0-2-3 or 0-2-4 Heli can shove camo DDTs without other support, which is often cheaper than adding a village.

It is also the required step toward Downdraft, Support Chinook and Special Poperations.

Common crosspaths with IFR are 3-2-0 Razor Rotors, 4-2-0 or 5-2-0 Apaches, and 0-2-4 or 0-2-5 Comanches when camo coverage is missing.

Is it worth it?

Only when built-in camo detection matters. Otherwise, Quad Darts or Faster Firing give more value for the same money.
