Shattering Shells

Shattering Shells upgrades the Mortar into a full-support tower. Each shot removes camo and regrow from bloons, including Boss Bloons, and removes fortified from bloons up to BFB, plus DDTs with the Paint Stripper Monkey Knowledge. The main explosion strips regrow and fortified, while the no-damage flare strips camo and regrow.

The burn also gets stronger: 5 damage per tick, plus a second burn that only hits MOAB-class bloons for 20 damage per tick, including DDTs. On a non-DDT blimp that adds up to 25 per tick. With 2-0-4, the burns become 8 and 25, for 33 per tick on blimps.

When to buy it

The main reason to buy it is to defortify blimps, most notably on round 98 of CHIMPS, which greatly reduces total RBE and removes the threat of fortified super ceramics from their children. It is pricier than some alternatives for round 98, such as several MOAB Presses.

Crosspaths:

• 0-1-4 or 0-2-4: if you only need defortify, Faster Reload is usually enough to catch every blimp. Rapid Reload adds consistency.
• 2-0-4: more burn damage and bigger flares, good if you want it to deal damage too.

Is it worth it?

Yes, as late-game support and the step toward Blooncineration. Do not expect it to clean up ordinary bloons on its own.
