Shell Shock

Shell Shock makes the main blast bigger (radius 28 to 38) and adds two new explosions with every shell:

• A stun blast with a 19-unit radius that stuns bloons for 0.5 seconds. It does not stun black or zebra bloons, even with buffs.
• A shockwave with a 57-unit radius that deals 1 damage to bloons outside the inner half of the blast. It only pops one layer at a time and cannot hit DDTs.

With Burny Stuff, the burn deals 2 damage instead of 1 and ticks twice as fast.

When to buy it

Shell Shock is a strong early-game tower on maps with good loops, such as Moon Landing and Dark Path, where one well-placed target point covers a lot of track.

Its main weakness is black and zebra bloons, so Striker Jones is the recommended hero for any Mortar build. The shockwave can also expose lead and rainbow inner layers that other towers might not handle.

• 3-0-2: the usual pick, adding a burn that deals extra damage over time.
• 3-2-0: faster attacks for better consistency on maps with several lanes.

Is it worth it?

Yes, for $825 it is good early value on loop maps, especially with Striker. Plan black-bloon coverage before relying on it.
