How to use Megalodon

Megalodon replaces the Orca. To buy it, the Orca must be at max Beast Power with three additional Orcas merged into it. Beast Power starts at 36 and goes up to 132, and with the three extra Orcas it sits at 84 by default. Its thrash grows to 48 radius, 600 to 1,800 damage and 50 to 90 pierce, and it knocks back MOAB-class Bloons much more. It drags blimps far faster than Orca, and it can even drag down BADs (for up to 30 seconds). Range increases to 60.

When to buy it

Megalodon has a huge amount of raw power for its price, but it is limited by water placement and the downtime between attacks.

  • It excels at controlling high-health groups thanks to its massive thrash damage, pierce and knockback.
  • It is one of the best non-Paragon towers against Boss Bloons, outperforming options such as M.A.D and Flying Fortress, and is particularly strong against the segments of Diamondback.
  • Attack speed buffs reduce its downtime, so Overclock, Jungle Drums and Homeland Defense all help.

Merge more water beasts to push it toward 132 Beast Power. After buying it, you can sell the contributing Handlers, but Megalodon drops back to its base power.

How it compares

  • Giganotosaurus skips blimp layers at any power but has weaker single-target damage.
  • Pouākai trivializes most rounds before the BAD but needs help against BADs themselves.
  • Megalodon wins against bosses and in Freeplay.

Is it worth it?

Yes, on any map with water. In CHIMPS it is a strong late-game carry, and in Boss Events it is one of the best tier 5 choices.
