Transforming Tonic gives the Alchemist an ability that turns it into a monster for 20 seconds (24 with the Strong Tonic knowledge). While transformed it stops throwing potions and fires an eye beam instead: 3 damage, 6 pierce, 72 range and a shot every 0.03 seconds. The beam ignores line-of-sight obstacles but cannot damage Purple Bloons. The ability has a 60 second cooldown and a 20 second initial cooldown.

When to buy it

Transforming Tonic is a cheap way to add single-target damage to an Unstable Concoction Alchemist you already have. The beam also sets off the Alchemist's own concoctions on blimps, so it supports itself. Save the ability for the heaviest part of a round, such as a big MOAB wave.

Crosspaths:

• 1-4-0 is usually preferred, since Larger Potions gives the beam +3 pierce and the concoction more pierce for hyperdense rounds.
• 0-4-1 shoots faster (every 0.024 seconds), which is better against single targets.

Is it worth it?

As an add-on to Unstable Concoction, yes. It is not a main damage dealer; its value comes from cheap extra burst. Plan around the 60 second cooldown.
